Babies Today's MomsTalk Archive
April, 2000 (Part 1)

Hello Mommies!!!
Wow! What a bee-u-tea-ful day here today! I had to put Sunblock on Sarah this afternoon. The sun was so strong and hot! Weirdly enough, The weatherpeople said we are supposed to get SNOW tomorrow! What a freaky situation! Sarah LOVED being outside today. Sarah and Mommy start off every Saturday morning with 20 bucks, Daddy's truck, and go Garage Sale-ing! I LOVE it! Today wasn't that great of a bargain day, but last Saturday I found a Graco Pack and Play for $5!!! That went strait to my Mom's house so it will be one less thing to "lug" around with us when they babysit! :o)

Alison - Triston must be so happy you are back home with him! Babies are so eternally loving!

Laura and Nathaniel - WELCOME!
My Stats: 29; Sarah 10 3/4 mo (first); Married almost 3 years; Special Education teacher

Amber- funny Carmen Story!!!

Layne - I still have to buy a bathing suit for Sarah... ha ha on the size of it! Just out of curiosity...did you buy one with the floatation devices in it? I think I'm going to buy one of those AND a regualar one. Re: the Il's ... it might be different for you if you do move close....but just remember what Chris and I have written here!!! :o)

Connie and Danielle- GOOD girl Danielle on listening so well to Mommy!!!!!!!!!!

Suzi - Thanks for the kind thoughts for about my Uncle. He is such a wonderful man. Sarah and I visited him yesterday at the hospital and I started to tear up as he was breathing his oxygen, Sarah was clapping her hands and he started to as well! Children are amazing. They see what they see. I see a man with so many memories in my life. She sees someone who she can say "HIIIII" to and clap with. --Which is just what he needed and not worry about the other stuff. Kids can put things into perspecive so well. Even at such a young age!

Chris - HA! The laudry hanging and the umbilical cord made me laugh out loud. I think your IL's win the award! :o) Just out of curiosity...have you ever watched the TV show "Raymond" with DH in the same room as you? Oh my goodness is it a trip!!!! My DH would say, "Now do you feel that way too?" He would also laugh at some of the parts I did too. It was sort of like THERAPY for the two of us! If you haven't...I'd recommend watching it first THEN see if DH would like it. :O)

Okay...DH is chomping at the bit to watch the video of "Star wars" I really was never into this Movie in the 80's, I doubt I'll like it now...but DH is interested in spending "time together" so who am I to argue with THAT!!! YIPPIE!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend MOMMIES and BABIES!!!

Good Evening mommies and babies! Is everyone having a good weekend? It's really dreary here. YUCK!!! Got home last night from MI about 7:00. Triston was standing at the end table and he didn't see me come in. I said Triston and he turned and saw me and crawled as fast as he could to me saying mama, mama. Then when I picked him up he gave me a big grin and kept patting me like he wanted to make sure it was me. He wouldn't let me put him down for like 15 minutes! He's getting so independant that I sometimes forget that he is still just a baby and needs mommy. Last night helped me remember that my baby isn't such a big boy after all. I really missed him too. Mommies need their babies just as much as babies need their mommies! I'll try to catch up on the personals but boy you guys sure had a lot to talk about while I was gone! LOL!

Leah- I'm so glad that Max did so well! Maybe he'll keep it up and nap times won't be so bad for everyone all around!

SuziF- You know your cutie pie misses you too. I don't know if I could leave Triston to work. The two weeks I worked after he was born were hard and he was only three weeks old

Chris - Hi to you and Kaleb. How are you guys doing?

Amber- So sorry to hear about your friend. Sometimes seeing a child hurts but at the same time helps too. I hope you can help her through this so she doesn't become too depressed. That wouldn't be good for her either. It's amazing how far the little arms can stretch when they want something isn't it?

Jennifer- I can't remember if I welcomed you or not. If I did just ignore this but Welcome to you and Morgan! This place will feel like homw quite rapidly!

Robin- How are your Tims' doing? Are they feeling any better? Your weather up there stinks right now! That storm I drove through yesterday was something! F-muth was great. We stopped at burch run and Triston got this NIKE baseball style shirt. DH and I both love it but I don't want to put it on him. He'll look so grown up! LOL! It was a great deal. Only $12. It makes me want to go on our shopping trip even more. I also found two Once upon a child's in Columbus and one pretty close to Columbus. I have to take my sister to see a DR in Col, so guess where I'll be heading?

Laura- Welcome to you and Nathaniel. I had a whole in my heart when I was born and it closed up itself. DR's usually keep an eye on murmurs closely. I hope he won't need surgery.

Layne- That the truth about the swimsuit but DH will probably lock her in her room before she has a chance to even get it! At least my DH would. LOL!

Barb- It looks like you're going to have a little garden helper one day. I love the story on how she got her nickname.

Jenn- That was crappy that she told on you. That's childish if I ever "saw". Triston does drink the bath water too. Maybe it's the wipes that make our sons' this way! LOL! I don't let him have a wipe long but now I've cought him taking a wipe and crawling aroung the house with it in his mouth. My little puppy dog! I think that's weird! It's cute too though.

Jenn- I hope it works out that you can stay home with Lizzy. There is nothing more rewarding than that!

Connie- It sounds like you have an ornery one there! I tell Triston NO and he laughs! Every once in a while he'll listen, but not often.

Lynn- I know everyone has said this but every brand is made different. Triston has 4's that fit but he has 5.5 (NIKE) that are getting too small. He also has sandals size 5 that float! I try to take him with me to make sure they fit. You never can tell just going by size.

Charline- Hayden said that? HOw cute!!!!

Dawn- When people tell me Triston is spoiled I tell them he is not spoiled he is throughly loved! I believe that babies need your love so much right now that you do more harm then anything else if you don't give them what they ask for( I'm not talking material things, I'm talking emotional.)

Therese- Welcome to you. I took the lazy man's way out and buy all of Triston's baby food. More power to you though!

Well I'm caught up again(I think). I go to Columbus on Monday so I'll probably get behind again. Oh well. I'll talk to you later and kisses from Triston to all his baby friends!

Hi everyone. I just had to post quickly because I was so excited. I have been trying the same routine for naps that we do for bedtime, and trying to do nap every day at the same time. He had been going to bed at night without any crying, but we were still getting tears if he didn't nurse to sleep for nap. Well just now for the first time he took a nap without tears. He was wide awake when I left the room and 6 minutes later he's out cold! Yippe! I feel like we've just conquored (sp) mt. Everest! Thanks for everyone that was supportive about our napping issues. DH and I are going to our movie today! What a good day! Hope everyone else's is going well too.

Hello Everyone,
Thank you so much for the advice on the breast soreness. I tried the heat on it, last night when I nursed him, and it is starting to feel better already. I am going to keep doing it, and try the other suggestions that you all had. I guess a clogged milk duct may be exactly what it is.

We had a rough night last night. Nathaniel refused to go to sleep before 2am, and was up almost every hour or so wanting to eat. I've been told he is probably having a growth spurt. That is a good thing, but I hope that he gets done with it soon so that I can get some sleep. My husband is going to the field for a month starting monday, so I am hoping that things will calm down a little by then (wishful thinking I know) (he is in the army by the way, for those who are not familiar with the term 'in the field').

It has been an interesting 6wks. I am finally starting to feel like I am getting the hang of being a mom now, so I am feeling good about that. The first couple of weeks were VERY challenging as you all know.

Do you all do "stats" here like they did on the PG board? If not, would you regulars mind posting a little about yourselves so that I can start getting to know everyone? For now, here is a little bit about me:

age:23

children: Nathaniel (first)

occupation: right now, at home mom. Hoping to eventually get some use out of my psychology degree (I was substitute teaching before he was born)

Home: Fort Riley, KS (originally eastern Massachusetts)

Married: 2years this past March

Well, I guess that is a start.

Talk to you all soon (I promise to start posting personals once I get to know everyone a little )

Have a great weekend everyone :)

Good Morning Everyone. Suzi and Jacob here. I'm at work and it stinks. I would much rather be spending time with my cutie pie!! He is with my Mother this morning.

Anyway, not much is going on around here. I just thought I would pop in and read a few posts and maybe send a few personals.

Amber, I'm so sorry to hear about your friends loss. I would love to see the oreo pics. I bet Jacob would love them. I will get Jacobs pics over to you ASAP.

Leah, I bet Max was cut mimicking the cat. Send me some crochet-vibes and maybe I will be able to finish the blanket I started 10 years ago!!!

Robin, I hope Timmy feels better soon!!

Laura, Welcome to you and Nathaniel.

Layne, Glad the pics went well. HAHA about the swim suit!!

Barb, CUTE CUTE!!! Thanks for the story. My mom found a Superman PJ's for Jacob and it has a cape to go with it. That made me think of the "Bibby Like a Cape."

SuziF, How are you???

Dawn, Poor Austin. I hate taking Jacob for shots. It just breaks my heart.

Jenn (julianna), That wasn't very nice of your co-worker tattling on you!!!

Jenn(Lizzy), Good luck on the SAHM status.

Connie, How are you?

Well, I actually have some work to do, so I better get off!! Have a great weekend everyone.

Good Morning mommies and babies. Monster post!! Long time no post!! I have been soooooooo busy trying to get the girls Easter dresses done that i have to stay away from all of you gals!! I could spend tooooo much time on here myself!!

So much has happened!! My neighbor's daughter (20 yr) just had twin girls this week!!! Haven't seen them yet. I wish her luck as she isn't married yet to the daddy!! (I think they are planning to though.)
Then my friend that was expecting her 5th, lost it on Tuesday. So she is having a rough time right now. I made dinner for her on Monday cause she was on bed rest then. I feel so sorry for her cause she was really wanting a little girl just like my Allie. Now i don't think she'll want me around for awhile cause of seeing Allie will set her off.
Anyway that has been my life this week now on to Allie!!!

Well the latest up date on Allie is not much. She is half crawling and half GI Joing!!! She will start to crawl and then go down into Army style cause she can still go faster that way!! We like to pull ourselves up and try to get mommy's pictures off my coffee table!! She is only on her knees but can still reach!!

She "talks" all the time but still no "real" words!!!

She had her first oreo last nite!! What a mess!! I have pics if you want to see!! Just e-mail me cause i don't know WHEN i'll be able to get on and check the board!! LOL
She really enjoyed it!! Just grabbed it right out of my hands!! It's like we see food and we HAVE TO HAVE IT!!! What a pig!!! LOL

Okay, I'm gonna try and post personals!!! LOL Sorry if i miss anyone! Been up since 5am!! Some are old posts too since i haven't been on in awhile. (I think ya'll know that by now!!)

Charline & Hayden- HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY!!!! Hope you made a mess with your cake!! Love Allie :)

Connie- I've read that story before and it always reminds me of my nephew who was 1lb and 4oz and 12ins long!! He is a booger now!! Running all over the place and will be 2 in Oct.

Suzi & Jacob- Send me the pics please.--Allie :)

Alison- My nephew climbed all the way up my mom's stairs and i think there are 15 or so!! No one was watching him and up he went!! First time too!! As for mexican food (sorry this is old), I only feed Allie the rice and refried beans!! But she can take it as she has mexican blood in her!! My mom is half mexican to begin with.

Stepahine- Welcome to the group. You'll enjoy it and miss it when you can't get on all the time!!

Melony & Jamyi- Welcome!!

Barb & Haley- yay on the tooth!! Happy belated 9 months!! Send the tooth fairy this way!! Maybe Alli's 1st tooth will break through on her nine months!! Allie clapped her hands when i said Haley had another tooth!!

Jenn & Lizzy- Happy belated 9 months!! Allie is almost there too!! Sometimes Allie will spit out her juice/water when she drinks out of her sippy cup. She will drink out of it really good if she is really thirsty. I never gave her a bottle too much.

Layne- Too funny about Nick and his "sex ed"!! Carmen (4yr) asked me what her uncle had on his bottom!! I just told her that boys had them and girls didn't and that was how boys went potty. Luckly she hasn't gone to all the boys she knows and said "you have something on your bottom but i don't!" I think i would die if she did!!

Well that is going to be all the posts for now. The girls are up and it is time to eat the waffles that i made at 7!! Will try and finish posting later as i'm only on
wednesday!!

Hi everyone. Max slept all through dinner tonight when we went out. It was so nice to be able to relax. We are supposed to go to a movie tomorrow so hopefully that will happen. DH has a busy weekend finishing up our deck and golfing. I need to do something fun. Max was so funny today, the cat walked by and made a noise and Max totally mimiced him. It't the first time he's done that. He has also started raising up his arms when he wants to be held. I love it!

Chris- I think remodelling is great no matter where the stuff comes from. I think it's great you have a good relationship with Tailer's grandparents.

Lynn- Do you have an Old Navy around you? They have really cute sneakers there. It's warm enough here to let Max go barefoot. I bought a really cute pair of sandals but they are stiff on the bottom, so I want to save those for when he's standing more. I've found that different brands of shoes run differnts sizes.

Suzi- I've made blankets for everyone. (this will be the second for my mom) I told her this would probalby take me quite awhile. I just have to have a project going.

Robin- I have already started working on DH. Luckily he hates the way I vaccum. He says I run into stuff. That's one chore he can keep!

Jennifer- I forgot how old is Morgan? You are really lucky you get to stay home with her, and DH is home with her when you work.

Connie- Yay for Danielle listening! I can't wait until Max understands me! LOL about Max being malnourished! Can you believe he was only 6lbs when he was born!

Jenn- Yay for the prospect of being a SAHM. I'm so excited for you! I can't wait to do that either. Thanks for the 7mos wishes for Max. Where does the time go?

Jenn and Anna- Yay for the big girl! What other veggies have you tried. Max likes avocado now but only if it's mixed with bananas. We tried peas today. If you thought the sweet potato face was funny wait until the pea face! (wow that sounds bad if you read that last sentence out loud)

Dawn- I write the questions down and find that helps for those doctors visits. It seems even with that I still forget something. Glad the appt went well.

Barb- I don't think it's a strike, he's never been to fond of food. I just think he likes the b/milk more than anything else. Acutally he does much better if he eats at the same time we do.

Layne- LOL aobut the bathing suit being the same size when she's 16. I thought the suits looked small for Max too, but I was looking at the kind that don't need diapers. His butt is a lot smaller nikid!

Laura- Welcome to you and Nathaniel. Sounds like a clogged duct. (I'm an expert on these) Try warm wet compress while nursing on that breast right on the spot that is tender. Try to empty that breast at each feeding because that helps too. It helps to rub above the tender spot towards the nipple, like you are rubbing the clogged duct out. You can also try broken up cabbage in your bra when you aren't feeding and that will help the swelling go down. Good luck!

Robin- Hope Timmy feels better.

Jennifer- just read your post about Morgan's age. I loved 5mos. we got the best pics yet that month because Max was so smiley!

Okay, bed time for my little guy. Have a great weekend!

DH is home and playing with Morgan, so that gives me some time to read everyone's entries for today. Here are a few personals to add:
Robin: Morgan will be 5 months tomorrow. My baby is growing up before my eyes!!!

Laura: I agree with Robin. When Morgan was first born I had the same painful, reddened areas to my breasts. I was repeatedly told that it was a clogged duct and that frequent nursing or pumping was the way to relieve it. It works!!! I also found that adding heat feels so good, and if you add the heat or take a hot shower before nursing/pumping, you can express more milk.

Hope all is well with everyone else. Talk to you soon!

Good evening! Timmy is just miserable. I feel so bad for him. I know we're not going ot get much sleep tonight. DH will be zonked out on Nyquil so it will be all me as ususal. Why don't they make baby Nyquil?? How are these babies supposed to get sleep when they feel so bad and how are they going to get better if they can't sleep??? I've been giving him Pedia Care cold medicine but it realy doesn't do much. i think the next dose I give him will be Tylenol Cold. Maybe that will be better.

Jennifer- I love the name Morgan! How old is she? I'm sure you posted it but I can't remember.

Connie- That's great that Danielle listened to you! I know I'm going to kick myslef for saying this but I can't wait til Timmy can crawl. I think it'll be so cute!

Jenn & Lizzy- I hope it works out for DH so you can stay home. I love it but we're worried that the company DH works for will go under. If so, we don't know if he can find a job making the same amount. It would devistate me if I couldn't stay home.

Jenn & Julianna- Timmy rolls around too! Many prayers to Emily. What kind of treatment are they going to give her? What does the disease mean for her?

Dawn- Wow, Austin is a big boy! Don't you just hate shots?

Barb- So now it's Bibby like a cape gardening??

Layne- I used to be in the IS Dept where I worked and we had to track everyone's internet usage but our own. Toward the end when I was 8 month pr all I did was play on the internet.:)

Laura- Hi and welcome! Could you have a clogged duct? I had those all the time with Timmy til he was about 6 months old. My breast was really sore and I could feel a hard ball where the duct was clogged. The best thing for me was to nurse frequently on that breast and massage where it was clogged to work it out. It hurt like hell to do but that's the only way it would clear up for me. If that's it, good luck!

DH just got back with a movie so I'm going to cuddle with my sickie for a while.TTYS!

Hello Ladies,
I'm new and thought I'd pop on and say hi. I was on the pregnancy today page for awhile, and figured it was time I moved up. There may be a few of you who remember me from there, but I'll introduce myself anyway.

Nathaniel is our first baby and was finally born after 26 hours of difficult labor (ended up having forceps, vacuum, 3rd degree episiotomy, IV antibiotics, etc.), but mercifully only 18 mins of pushing (doctor decided he needed to be born soon, since were were both in distress). We also had a scare with a heart murmur right after he was born. We ended up at a specialist when he was 3 days old. Fortunately the problem should correct itself, but we do have to go back and have him rechecked when he is a year old. So, I'm hoping for the best on that (there is a valve that hasn't closed yet. If it hasn't closed by then, they may have to do it surgically)

I have a question for those of you who have breastfed. I started off having a problem with sore nipples recently. That has pretty much gone away, but now I am having another problem. The right breast itself is now sore. It feels like a pulled muscle, and one area looks like it may have some broken blood vessels. Any idea what may have happened, and what can I do about it? It is pretty painful, so I am very anxious for any suggestions.

Hope everyone is having a great friday. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

:)

tadah!

This one really will be a quick post because it's 4:57 and I have to walk out the door at 5:00 today! I'm trying to keep up and have a ton of personals to post but they'll have to wait until next week I guess. It's not like you're all on the edge of your seats waiting for my responses anyway....

FYI to Mommies posting at work...Your IS or IT (whichever he/she goes by) can monitor your internet usage and which websites you visit without your knowing about it. Our guy monitors it, but likes me so he just teases me about my habit. Just trying to help you all stay out of trouble...

Pictures went well, Lindsey was an absolute Princess and the pictures are well worth all the $ I'll be forking over.

Mommies of girls might appreciate this...I bought Miss Lindsey a bathing suit today and it's so tiny. I realized after buying it that she'll probably be buying the same size suit again when she's 16 only then Daddy will have a fit over it!

Charline good luck with the parties!

See you all on Tuesday!

BTW the house across the street from MIL is for sale (what timing huh) but thanks to you guys I know better than to even consider it!

Take care, sleep well!

Hi everyone, Barb here! My sister caught Haley throwing dirt out of her plants today ... looks like my little girl likes to garden like her mom!

PERSONALS:

CORDé: I'd just rather he didn't get her up at all - she sleeps for another 1/2 hour to 45 minutes, which I need to make the bed, prepare breakfast & my lunch, and other little things that come up in the morning. I've already shower and gotten dressed by that time. DH is actually very good about taking care of her when I leave her with him - but I have to do the same thing - lie out clothes or he will leave her in her jamies all day!

LEAH: Your first food strike??? When Haley was sick she wanted her solids, then no bottle; then switched to no solids only the bottle.

LYNN: I'm sorry to hear about your LL's loss. As to yur shoe problems: All I have is size 2's. I refuse to buy her shoes when my sis gave me a box full of size 2's - so I put the biggest, fluffiest socks I can find on her feet, then the shoes!

SUZI F: Yeah Harvest Gold - BTW, that stove sounds beautiful - I love unique things like that!

JENN (& Jullianna): That co-worker is a LOSER for tattling on you ... are you sure you don't work at my old company? A "friend" of mine tattled on me for playing Solitaire there ... she was jealous that I was able to & she couldn't! That is very cool that you went to the iparenting at Kids Fair.

JENN: I hope you get to be a SAHM. We all desrve to be - I wish I could too. Hey! Haley's been sleeping great recently too!

JENNIFER: Ahh, the Sleep Fairy cometh!

ROBIN: Oh, what a very nice offer ... but I grew up with a Harvest Gold (we thought it was cool when my parents bought it back in the 70's) Amana side by side fridge. My whole family cheered the day that thing bit the dust ... and it was only 6 years ago! Feel better Timmy!

SUZI: I'll try to make it short: Bibby Like a Cape is the "Indian name" my DH gave her when she was 3 months old, because she would always turn her bibs around while she was wearing them, hence she wore her "Bibby Like A Cape." Ask Lynn for related story on Cape Girl! LOL!

Sorry If I missed anyone - and for any typos -- time to go home!

Hi ladies....I'm trying to get caught up...we're having a hectic week here.I havn't had enough time to get to the end of posts so I'm a day behind.

Layne:Matt lost his first 2 teeth about 4days before we were scheduled to have our family portrait done in Feb...funny thing is he has a closed mouth smile on the pics and you can't even tell!
BTW:The fairy left him one of those new cool gold dollar coins plus a paper dollar.I think I forgot to mention~ one tooth was loose but the permanent one was up behind it so the dentist pulled it & the one next to itso it wouldn't mess up the permanent allignment.

Melony:Out FP aquarium ate batteries at first but it seems like the set in it now has hung in there quite awhile...I'll have to check the brand batteries

Lynn:Good Luck on the shopping spree for a Christening outfit!...remember I couldn't find one I liked so Sam's Godmother & I made it from a pair of heirloom pillowcases

Jenni: Target has these really cute board books of Cheerios & Goldfish that have spaces for the kids to stick the crackers & count, complete pictures, etc~ I bought the Goldfish one for Nick's Easter basket

Barb: I still have a Harvest Gold Hood but we yanked out the double oven a few yrs back when we put cabinets in...if it's any consolation though we have a really old Westinghouse stove- I wanted to do a 50's stlye kitchen & my Gram had this one in her basement that she'd hardly used & had all covered with a tarp-It's almost 4' wide & has a soup vat instead of the 4th burner...my fridge is beige & DW & Micro are black...we aquired each in different houses~yikes!

Lynn: That sounds high for a monthly cell phone bill to me...if you ane only going to use it on occasion you might want to look at a plan with no free minutes~I think mine is about $9.99 a month and the airtime charges rarely bring it over $20. They also make ones that work like phone cards now.You buy the phone & how many minutes you want & all you do is rebuy minutes as needed.
Do you have a Famous footwear near you ???If they make half sizes that small Buster Brown brand should have them & I know FF carries that
~she must be a Peanut though! Sam will be 4mths next week & he's almost out of a size 1!

Well, the sky is pretty grey here but no storms yet. we're supposed to go down to the track for opening night later.DS's scout troop is to do the flag ceremony. I hope it holds off.

Hello. Austin had his 6 mo. check up and vaccination today. He didn't mind the needle too much- didn't even cry in fact- but I don't think he's feeling very good now though. Those vacs sure are hard on them. He's 19 1/2 lbs and 26 1/4 in and healthy! Of course I had A bunch of questions I wanted to ask and forgot half of them till I got home. I gotta go austin woke up. Thanks everyone for the welcome and for the input on the tantrum situation. Talk more later.

Hey all! I missed you all so much! Just to let you know what is going on, a coworker saw me on here and complained so if I get caught again it is bye-bye job. Even on my breaks. So I sneaked on. Update on Anna, she is now rolling everywhere. She finally found out that if she keeps rolling over she moves. Also we have been battling the toofie fairy for her top toofie now...ugh that is the worst, I get no sleep whatsoever. She is now almost 29 inches tall and 21 lbs, for 7.75 months old and we just started veggies...pretty good advocate for breastfeeding. She started sweet potatoes on Wednesday, boy did she make a face.

Thank you all for praying for my niece, Emily. She has been diagnosed with Benign Partial Epilepsy and has started treatment and therapy. She is only 5 years old and just in the last 6 days has had 3 seizures. Prayers are still welcomed as we all learn how to care for her now.

Also I met Tara and some of the others from IParenting at a Kids fair in Chicago. They are so sweet! Anna and I both got T-shirts from Iparenting. I thanked them for such a wonderful place to come and meet others and get great information.

Not that much time for personals, but Lynn, LOL I am in the same boat, but Anna was born with size 1.5 feet already. Course I have size 11 so she is destined for a firm foundation. Also with the clothes, Anna too is in size 18 months at almost 8 months. Go figure....

All others happy belated birthdays to you all and welcome to everyone else. I will try to get on more or sneak on when I can.
Hugs and Kisses from me and Anna!

Hello mommies & babies...TGIF! Yeah, the weekend's here! I hope Lizzy sleeps as good tomorrow as she has all week. Thank you sleepfairy, and please don't leave us! Today was a much better day, with the exception of a sinus headache. I got some good news from DH last night. If all goes well with his job, I may not have to work anymore! The night person that does data entry is giving her notice, and DH is going to propose to his boss that he work 2nd shift, do the data entry job, plus what he normally does, for a raise. If he gets the increase that he's asking, it will be enough for me to stay home with my Lizzy! Keep your fingers crossed, I long for the day when I can be a SAHM. I have pictures of Liz all over my desk, and miss her so much when I'm here. I know it's alot of work staying at home with a little one plus keeping up with housework, but it's much easier when you have all day to do things. Sorry, I'm rambling, but I can't help it. Anyway, here's a few personals:

ROBIN-what company do you get your cell phone service through? We're definately going to shop around.

LYNN-Thanks for the phone info. Lizzy had the same shoe problem(she's in size 2 now), we went without for awhile. She had socks with rubber feet on the bottom for traction, and they were kind of heavy to keep her little feet warm. If you want to try them, I think Walmart carries them.
LEAH-Happy 7mos to Max, I hope his sleeping pattern gets better. I'm more than happy to share the sleepfairy with you.

JENNIFER&MORGAN-Welcome. I love the name Morgan. DH's cousin has a 2-year old with the same name. It definately sounds like it could be teeth, Lizzy went through the same stage when she was around that age, then all of a sudden...POOF comes a toofie! Good luck.

Well, my day's just about over, Yeah! Now I get to go pick up my Lizzy and take her grocery shopping. She loves to go shopping, so much for her to look at. We're going to see the Easter bunny tomorrow, I hope she doesn't cry! Depending on how the pics come out, I'll scan them in. Have a good weekend!

Happy Friday's ladies. Connie here. Not a whole lot going on here. Trying to start some major cleaning, but with four kids underfoot, I never get everything done I want to. My little sweetie is so funny. Last night, DH was going to take Danielle up to bed. He was standing by the stairs and called her. She came crawling as fast as she could and followed him up the stairs. Every few steps she would stop and look back at me and grin! She thinks she's so talented. This a.m. I was getting DH's lunch and hadn't blocked off the stairs yet. She was sitting on the kitchen floor right next to me one minute and the next she was half way up the stairs to see her daddy! She loves those stairs! I just wish they weren't so dangerous. She also obeyed me for the first time this a.m. She was pulling up the carpet by the bathroom where DH had cut it to put a new floor in the bathroom. He hasn't put a new tack strip down so you can lift it all up. Well, she loves to pick it up and rip off a piece of the foam underneath. Only problem is she also likes to put it in her mouth. Well, she did it this morning and I said "Danielle, ungh ugh, put it down and come here." She turned around looked at me, put the carpet back down and crawled right over to me. It's the first time I could really tell she understood what I told her. Usually, they will just laugh at you. I was very proud of her. I just hope this keeps up.

Here are a few personals I typed out earlier. The little munchkin just woke up and is all smiles.

Lynn-Lexie sounds a lot like Danielle. She always wants to feed herself, but she's so messy. She is also wearing 18 mo clothes and is happy all the time. I can already tell she's going to be a funny kid. You will find that clothing sizes will drive you crazy. Nobody makes the same size in each age category. I put an 18mo dress on Danielle at 7 mo.'s and it was too small! Kathy and Stephie never got to wear it much either because of the way it fit.
Matthew usually wears a size 4/5, but he has some boxer shorts that were 2T and he just outgrew them. It's really hard and it doesn't get any better. I've resorted to buying 2 or 3 sizes at times and taking them home to try on. I also do this with shoes for the kids. It's easier for me than lugging them all to the store. You'll find this out when you have 3 or 4 little ones!

Jenn (Lizzy) I don't blame you for staying home. I think I would have too!

Jennifer and Morgan-Danielle was born with a head full of mucous. In fact, she had to be hospitalized at 3 weeks with a viral infection and you wouldn't believe the stuff that was suctioned out of her head! It was like liposuction! At first I slept with her on my chest because I needed to feel her breathing, but after that, she slept in her car seat for several weeks. Being raised up helped her to breath and I think she also felt more comforted in it than lying in the cradle. I've even heard of people putting them in their carseat and then in to the crib if they slept better that way.

Leah-LOL about being Alex's maid. I feel that way sometimes. It's hard to teach the kids to pick up their stuff when DH doesn't. The kids are always throwing their jackets on the livingroom couch. I tell them to hang them up and help Matt with his. What does Jim do when he come's home? Throw's his jacket on the couch! I just glare at him, but it doesn't do any good. Tell Alex he can come work on some of our projects when he's done with tearing down your deck. I'm just hoping to have our back yard and patio back to normal by next year. Also, I wouldn't worry too much about Max not eating. I would just keep trying to introduce him to stuff and eventually, I think he'll start taking it. As long as you're nursing him (this would be the same for formula feeding too) he's getting the most important thing. You can tell by looking at him that he's not malnourished!

Lynn-re-shoes. I got several pair of infant shoes at yard sales and baby re-sale stores. We did the
$30 Stride Rite for Kathy, but found out it was really unnecessary and didn't do it with any of the other kids. Danielle is wearing a size 2 right now and some of them are still big (patten leather dress shoes) and some of them are getting hard to get on (baby gap) Just as with the clothes, I think different companies make all different size 1's, 2's, etc.. Maybe try a different brand of 1's or 2's. Until she's walking outside, the little soft sided shoes at Target, Kmart, etc. should work fine. I mostly put shoes on Danielle now because she pulls her socks off and I lose them. It's getting expensive having to buy new socks all the time!

Robin-I hope your guys feel better real soon. Mommies aren't allowed to get sick though!

I hope everybody has a great weekend. It is so hot here right now 90's so we'll have to get out in the a.m.'s before it gets too warm.

Hugs and Kisses to the cutie pies!

Hi everyone! Thanks for the warm response. Morgan is doing much better today. She slept great which translates to "Mommy slept great". Her congestion seems to have eased off a bit and she is happily talking away as I type (she is in her bouncy chair next to me). She seems to be growing up so quick -- doing new things everyday. Luckily I am home to see it all because I only work on the weekends and then my husbands is home with her. She is trying to sit up and wants to so bad. My husband and I really watch her milestones because theroretically she should be about a month behind (she was a preemie born at 34 weeks). We are just so thrilled that she is happy and healthy.

Lynn: To answer your questions, we live in Texas and the weather is beautiful in the 80's in the afternoon but a little windy right now. Tomorrow is only supposed to get in the 60's.

Barb: I agree that Morgan might be teething. She is slobbering on everything and can't keep her hands out of her mouth. I didn't think about the congestion being related -- thanks for the heads up. If she is getting teeth I guess I have to look forward to nursing her and hoping that she won't bite!

Hope everyone has a great Friday!!!

Hello! It's a very sad day around here. Timmy has his first fever.:( DH stayed home form work yesterday b/c he was so sick and then Timmy woke up with it today. I'm surrounded by sick Tims!! Tim is home again today from work too. Yesterday he was so funny. I was getting ready to put Timmy down fr his nap and DH wanted to know if I was going to lay down with him. I'm like no, I have laundry, dishes, and dusting to do. Nap times are my work times. Well DH felt rejected after I told him that so I hurried to get everything done so I could lay down with him for a few minutes. Turns out all he wanted was DTD! Men, they can be sick as a dog, make you wait on them hand and foot, but those hormones are always raging!!

Timmy woke up last night coughing and then woke this morning with a 101.6 fever. No, I did not take it rectally. I'm too much of a wimp. I called the ped and they said to give him Tylenol and keep a close eye on him. He's still playful so I'm not too worried. I've tried cuddling with him but he's more interested in his toys on the floor.:)

Terri R- Welcome!

Lynn- I loved Erin Brockovich! Timmy is in 18 mos too! I just went through his dresser to get rid of all the stuff that's too small. He's got 2 huge rubbermaid containers filled with clothes that are too small.

Jenni- Yea for Nicholas taking his first step. I would've cried too!

Barb- Wanna trade your fridge for mine?? I know you want a Harvest Gold fridge to match your stove!

Chris- Congrats on your new vacuum! I'm a vacuuming freak. I'm one of those who likes the lines in the carpet. To me it makes it look clean. DH thinks I'm weird.:)

Dawn- I think the older generation is like that. DH's Grandpa told me I spoil Timmy because I took Timmy away from him when he was screaming. I'm sorry, but if he doesn't want to be held by you, I'm not going to force him, ya know? Bottom line is you're the mommy. You know best.

Jenn- Happy 9 monts to Lizzy! Our cell phone cost 9.95 per month but we only get 10 free minutes which is all we need. I wanted one for emergencies.

Leah- I think you need to get some things straight for DH before you become a SAHM!

Well I've got to go check on my 2 sickies. TTYS!

Hi Everyone, Suzi and Jacob here. How's it going? It has been a quiet week. Not much is going on. Oh well, on to personals. I am the unlucky recipient of the Saturday rotation, so I will be posting tomorrow!!

Leah, I started crocheting a blanket about 10 years ago and would you believe it's still not finished. I am really bad about starting a project and not finishing it. I bought a Winnie the Pooh Latch Hook kit for Jacobs room about 2 or 3 months ago and I have yet to finish that.

Lynn, Hi and sorry to hear about your LL's miscarriage. I know what you mean about Lexie growing up. I feel the same way about Jacob.

Corde, I hope your uncle is feeling better. Yeah, my MIL is pretty much whacked in the head!!!

Sandra, I've never put Jacob in a contest but I've had people tell me I should. They definitely get to be a handful when they start walking.

Charline, I bet that was so cute of Hayden to say I see you!!!

Barb, What is the story behind, "Bibby like a cape?" I am just curious. Happy 9 months Haley!!

Jennifer and Morgan, Welcome to you!!

Jenn, WOW that did sound like a crummy day!

Dawn and Austin, Welcome to you.

Therese, Welcome to you.

Chris, Just and idea.....I've seen softer mattresses at Wal-Mart. They are only in the $20-30 range.

Jenni, YAY FOR NICK AND HIS FIRST STEP!!! I would love to have another but I want to get Jacob out of Diapers and a little more independent beforehand!!

Lisa, I hope all goes well with the 13 hour car trip. Where are you going???

TerriR and John, Welcome to you!!

Melony and Jaymi, Have I welcomed you yet? If not, then WELCOME. Sounds like a cool job.

Robin, Thank you!!! The curley hair is from DH. My hair is board strait!!

Hi to anyone I missed. Talk to you all later. Hugs to the babies!!

Okay o-wise ones, I have a problem. Lexie's size 1 shoes are getting way too small for her. So put her in size 2 you say. Size 2 are HUGE!! She has a size 2 pair on now, and she looks like she has clown feet!!! She is in her walker now, but when I walked her around the house with them on, she was tripping over her own clown feet!! What do I do now??? (my floors are still too cold for her to go barefoot in my house, btw! I know its recommended babies go barefoot as much as possible when learning to walk! She does go w/o shoes at my grams!) They dont make 1 1/2 baby shoes, DO THEY?!? Where would I find them if they did, w/o paying an arm and a leg for them??? I know I have to get her walking shoes eventually, and those will cost some money. What to do???

I dont know what to do. I know its not good to wear shoes that are too small for your feet, and its probably not good for them to be too big either!

Shes chewing on my chair, so I better go get her something for her mouth!! :)

Thanks!! :)

Talk to ya soon!! Hugs and kisses!

Love,
Lynn & Bigfoot

Last night we started the first step in getting the remodel on our kitchen started. Tailer's grandparents are remodeling and offered us their old(5yrs) cabinets. So of course we jumped on that offer. In the process, James ended up helping remove them, b/c they were supposed to have them down and Tom couldn't get it by himself. We also got a fairly new baker's rack from them. I love free stuff!!! James thinks it'll be tacky but I'm putting my linens on the baker's rack in the hall. Otherwise (as Barb knows) there wouldn't be any room for it.

Cordé: Hey I tried your trick!! And look it worked to get the accent mark...yea!! Sorry I'm alittle computer illiterate! Yes our IL's may be related. FIL called once when BIL called to get our number and asked me to babysit for a friend, to see if BIL wanted DH to work for him. I told him no and what he wanted and I got lectured about how I didn't need to watch anyone's kids, I had enough of my own to watch and that 'you don't know how they treat their kids and what sickness' they have!!' I let it go in one ear and out the other! Like while I was PG I had him and the neighbors up the street telling me not to hang laundry on the line b/c the cord would wrap around the baby's neck. FIL wouldn't let me pick up empty boxes for fear of miscarrying. We looked at other houses last summer to move too and were told you don't need to move anywhere b/c when you get old no one will take care of you in the country, just stay in town. LOL, they's miss us too much.

Welcome to the new mommies!!!

I gotta run, it's grocery shopping day! yuck!

Hi everyone. I wish my son would pick a schedule for sleeping and stick with it. He was up at 1 and 4 last night and up for good at 6:30. He gets really tired at 6:30 every night, so tonight I'm going to let him take a short nap. Hopefully this will help him sleep better at night. I know Barb, "sleep begets sleep"!

I am going today to buy yarn to crochet a new blanket. I feel so empty with out a project even though I know I won't have much time for it. I'm trading my mom. I'll make her the blanket if she sews new valances for me. I wish I knew how to sew.

Lynn- There are lots of great deals on cel phones out there. You probably will use all the minutes though. I know I do. I just chat away thinking I have all the time in the world!

Corde- Cream of Wheat is fine for babies, but it shouldn't be one of the first foods. I was thinking of starting Max on it soon since it's so high in iron.

Charline- Too cute! Max loves peek a boo. He laughs so hard when I see him.

Okay friends, I'm going to go start my day. DH said last night he was looking forward to May so he doesn't have to clean up after himself anymore. Any advice on how I squelch that little notion quickly. I'm not staying home to be his maid.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Good morning mommies and babies!! :)

Im so excited, it is FINALLY bright and sunny out!!! It has been so dim and cold the past week... very depressing! Now, if only it would get WARM out!!!

I have some sad news to report... remember how I told you gals my LL's were expecting? Well, she miscarried this weekend. I felt so bad for her. She is the first person I know that it has happened to since mine, and I felt MY pain all over again, I almost cried! Had to hug Lexie extra tight! :)

She is just too funny these days! I cant feed her anymore, she wants to feed herself! She grabs the spoon as its enroute to her mouth! And, what a mess does that make! She has been really happy lately, just laughs at everything! I love it!

Yesterday was a sad day for mommy, realizing that her baby is still growing!! I bought her an outfit a while ago, b/c it was cute, and on clearance. As a matter-of-fact, I believe I bought it while I was still pg! Anyways, I washed a bunch of stuff I thought mught fit her soon... well... this one outfit, its 18 mos. I was holding it up, going "yeah, this will be big on her" So, I decided to hold it up to her, then I said, "well, I guess it wouldnt ne that big"! She wore it yesterday, and it fit her great!!! :) She is 7 months old, wearing an 18mos outfit!!! Im tellin' ya, its just not right!!! LOL!!!

Well, while she is watching Blues Clues, Im going to try and get some personals done here.......

Lisa~~where are you going?? I dont remember! Good luck, thats a long car ride!

Jenni~~yay for Nick taking his first step!!! *snif* Im crying with ya girl! Wasnt he just 3 or 4 months old yesterday, you know, when Lexie was born yesterday!!! LOL!! Thanks! :) LOL about being the most quoted celebrity!! THANKS!! now I feel REALLY cool!! LOL!!! I will get a picture this weekend... of course, it will have to be WITH Lexie, I dont do pics alone anymore!!! hee hee

My screen is frozen for some reason, but this box is coming up 2wice. One I can post in, the other is frozen.... WEIRD... I hope I dont lose this!! Oh, wait, I think its okay now! I sure hope so!!!

Barb~~yup... 25... and, yes, I still am a baby myself!! :) Thanks! :) Happy 9 months to Haley... 9 months?!? Her too?!? What is it with all these babies growing up?!?!? Yikes! I dont think any men understand that these babies are work for us, b/c they are the ones who mostly just get to PLAY with them!

Dawn~~ouch... biting... Im so glad Lex didnt get any teeth till after I had to wean her!

Chrissy~~! My long lost chat buddy! How the heck are ya?!? Still no tooth fairy?!? Why has'nt Tailer been singing to Steve lately?? LOL!! Yay for a new vacuum!! Lexie's mattress isnt all too soft either, but I think they are supposed to be that way.

Dawn~~from what you just said, it sounds more like he was tired, than spoiled. Lexie is the same way, she loves attention, and when she gets over-tired, she just wants more of it, and she gets very crabby. Most of the time, she is more than happy to be by herself, like now... shes just wandering around the house, in her walker! But, when she gets over-tired, she just wants ME.. and she wants me to hold her. HOWEVER... my DD IS spoiled... when I come home at night from work, if I dont pick her up, and love her and hugs her and kiss her, she has a FIT!! But... thats okay, b/c after 7 hours of being at work, I need to do it!! :)

Jenn~~happy 9 months to Lizzy! What is going on around here!?!?! LOL!! Glad your bad day got better! I have our (old) RM's cell phone, and it really is great. However, he wants to get rid of the service for this phone... which Ive been using since I was pg, and he has been paying for :) (he gets free time, so he never actually had to pay for me using it!) and now I want to get one of my own too, and DH doesnt think we can afford it either. But, he is looking for me, and he found a phone on the internet that was 29.99 a month and it included 240 free minutes a month!! Thats great!! I dont use it hat much!! It had some other great features too, Ill find out what the site was, and let you know! Thanks for the welcome back! Youre welcome for the sleep fairy! :)

Jennifer and Morgan~~welcome!!! Lexie went through that congestion thing, I had her to the ped's once a week for a month, and they kept telling me it was just the weather, and it would resolve itself. Which it did. After she was on amoxicillin for the ear infection that developed with all the congestion. Coincidence?? Im still wondering myself! Have you raised the head of her crib? My DD had to sleep in her carseat for over a month b/c of it. That was the ONLY way she would sleep! If I laid her down, she was up EVETY hour, whith a nose full of snot! It was a nightmare! It lasted for 2-3 months for Lexie. I hope it doesnt last that long for Morgan! Hope she feels better!! Where do you live, and what is the weather like there?? Happy 5 months to Morgan tomorrow!! :)

Charline~~thatnks for the birthday wish! :) I cut my hair REALLY short! SHORT short! How cute that Hayden said that!! Lexie is really trying to talk, she is just babbeling endlessly these days, making all new sorts of sounds! I cant wait till she can talk! Of course, then I will want her to shut up! hee hee

Sandra Moore~~welcome! I checked out that site, and your Alexandria is adorable! My DD'd name is Alexandria too! I voted for her too, btw! Good luck!

Well, thats all for this morning, I have to get my little sweetness to sleep, she is getting quite crabby! This has taken me a long time to do, Ive stopped a million times for a million things!! Oh well!! Anyways, have a great day!! Hugs and kisses!!

Love,
Lynn & Lexie 7+months

Hello Mommies!
It's Cordé here...sorry so tardy in getting back to this board! It's really tough to catch up on all of the postings!
It's been pretty crazy, but now NormalCy has returned to our house. My uncle has been quite sick. This is my Dad's brother. My Dad is also our Baby sitter, so replacing him was a little nutty. ALso, DH decided to finish painting the kitchen, so his "necessary tools" don't have to be left w/in reach of Her Royal Highness!
On to the Personals!

Romaine-Hi again! Nice to "see" you again!

Janet- I do the accent for my name w/ the "alt" "1" "3" "0" keys on the keypad. Thanks for the other way too!

Connie -- What a heart touching story to share!

Suzi and Jacob YIKES! you have one strange MIL indeed!

Leah - WOW! I never heard that about Cream of Wheat! Sarah is 10 1/2 mo, and I haven't seen any reactions to it, so I guess we are safe.

Jenni and ALisona - thanks for the info about other foods for Sarah. She loves the Oatmeal now! She also enjoys mac and cheese! She now tastes almost everything we eat for dinner!

Barb/Haley/Connie- Shopping? Sure! I live in Boonton. Barb, you remember my BIL and SIL live around the corner?!! You have one heck of a Memory!!!! ALso, I read how your DH loves to get Haley up, play with her, not change her, and LEAVE FOR WORK! My DH did that for a little bit too! ThEn my head did a 360 spin, and now, if I lay out clothes the night before(b/c poor Sarah will look like a child from MisMatched Island), he lets me take my shower while he changes the diaper and outfit too! Good luck!

Chris and Kaleb-- I bet our in laws are RELATED!!!!! Yes, I do love them dearly. I know my Il's mean well, but I truly do not think they realize how suffocating they are! Just this past Sunday, DH's brother, Jim, and his wife Karen stopped by to visit US. Well, w/in seconds of them leaving our house, MIL called to "investigate" whether or not Karen is mad at her b/c they did not stop in to see them!!!!!!! I was very pleasant and told her to call Karen if she was so concerned about this. I was LIVID b/c if I lived in just ONE TOWN AWAY would she even CARE if anyone visited us? What is the big ol' deal? AHHHHHHH!!!!! On another note, DH and I received a letter from the town about a possible piece of property for sale which is adjacent to our lot. We leave these papers on the 'fridge b/c they need to be referred to when we get the call returned. Well, FIL visits (always during our dinner) and READS ALL OF OUR STUFF ON THE 'FRIDGE!!!!!!!!!!! He then gives us 20 questions about the property!!!! (It's only a small piece, but that's not the point -- MYOB!!!!) Then FIL was all excited and said, "Oh, boy! A place to build a horse shoe pit!" I wanted to DIE!!!!! Then I responded with what my DH refers to as "a tone" and said, "Dad, my backyard will not be your adult playground, it is Sarah's backyard." Dh gave me a glare, but he knew where I was coming from. Then FIL responded with a sarcastic, "I was only joking, Cordé!" Sometimes I just want to put a "FOR SALE" sign on our front lawn and see what they'd say (hee hee hee) Sorry about that vent there Chris! Hope your week went better than mine started! AHHH!! I hope you saved the 50 dollar Tick that Tailer had! :o)

Have a great Thursday night ladies and kids!

Hi everyone. I'm so irritated. I had written my post out and hadn't connected to the internet yet, and the power went out. ARGHH! Sorry, I'm not doing all those personals again.

I can't get max to eat. I have tried before I nurse, after I nurse an hour before I nurse. He's just not interested. Anyone have any suggestions?

DH has been busy taking our deck out of our back yard. He has finally also agreed to put grass back there. Yeah! He's also decieded to hire someone to do it, instead of struggling with it ourselves. Quite frankly it's worth every penny.

Dawn- glad the trick worked. I'll have to remember it when Max starts. Blood? That sounds worse than the sore nipples at the beginning.

Therese- I have a book called "super baby food" They have a website too, superbabyfood.com. It has lots of info. So far we've tried sweet potatoes, asparagus, avocado, banana, rice cereal and oatmeal. My doc reccommended the box cereals because they are iron fortified and I'm still nursing. Hope that helps.

Jenni- I cried now that Nicholas has taken his first step.

Allison- Just a suggestion, since Triston likes Barney so much, you might want to get another one identical to the one you have to avoid problems if you lose it, or have to wash it.

Okay, I have stuff to do. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Hi ladies & babies, I decided to take a break from my cleaning to say hi to you guys. I forgot to tell you yesterday that I was playing peek-a-boo with Hayden and I said I see you and he smiled looked at me and said I see you! It was so cute. Well, I better go onto a few personals.

Welcome TerriR & John Paul! Happy 1 month Birthday to John Paul!

Lynn-Yes, they really like you(lol!) I'm not sure how many times that you have been quoted. Good for you for cutting your hair. Your hair was really long. How short did you cut it? I'm going to wish you an early 25th Birthday in case I'm not here and forget. Have a great day! You deserve it!

Jenni-I will take lots of pictures and send them out. I saw your post to Alison and Hayden loves to eat the Huggies wipes and always drinks the bathwater also. Congrats to Nicholas taking his first step!

Barb-Thanks for the Birthday wishes for Hayden. I'll be back early next week to let you guys know how the parties went. I will miss you too when I move to TT, but I will come back and visit. Happy 9 month Birthday to Haley!

Welcome Therese!

Jenn-Happy 9 month Birthday to Lizzy!

Welcome Jennifer & Morgan!

Well, that's all for now. I have to get back to my cleaning now. Have a good weekend everyone and I'll check in early next week.

I just had to respond to some new posts I saw:

JENNIFER: Welcome! I suspect it could be teething (the very begining of it)Haley had that stuffy nose for 2 weeks about a month ago and she is just getting the teeth in now.

DAWN: Don't you just hate the word "spoiled?" Many people of the older generations think we "spoil" our children today with too much affection and responding to their needs. I think you are on the right track already - he's just been thrown a bit off schedule and (is showing his intelligence) by being frustrated! They know what they want but they can't figure out (yet) how to tell you ... hence the temper tantrums. Don't be afraid to be firm - to get him back on schedule - this will help you anticipate his needs and hopefully derail some of the temper tantrums. Uh, I know alot of moms do this - so nobody yell at me - but nursing them to sleep is a hard habit to break. They still cling to it as they get older and older - nurse him BEFORE he goes to bed, but establish a bedtime routine that revolves around something else (a story, a bath) than you nursing him.

THERESE: Hello! I don't make any baby food - I admit to purchsing it all in those cute little bottles. Carrots are actually hard for some babies to digest at first - my daughter would spit them up all the time. We are just starting to re-introduce them.

CHRIS: Thanks for the support, sweetie! I really had a hard time putting that episode in my life behind me, and hopefully that was the final chapter!

OK, my office version of the "Internet Police" just showed up - the self-important executive assistant (aka: nark) so I have to get busy again!

Hi everyone! This is my first time to post a question. My daughter will be 5 months on Saturday. She has had a stuffy nose for almost three weeks now and nothing seems to be helping. We are using a humidifier, saline drops, suctioning, and Triaminic (the orange one). She has even been to the doctor and I have talked to the nurse twice from home. Anyone else have any ideas?

Wow, I can't believe my little girl is 9mos, where'd the time go? Well what started out as a rotten day is turning out to be a good one. Stupid, careless me, locked herself and Lizzy out of the house this morning. It wouldn't have happened if I didn't turn around to come back home and get my checkbook. Ugh, had to leave Lizzy in the car(cuz it was snowing) while I walked down the road to use the neighbors phone to call DH at work. I was panicing cuz my little girl was in the cold car by herself. By the time DH got there to let us in, I said the heck with everything, and stayed home with my little one. Thought I lost a box of brand new checks, but after searching, found them. And from there on in the day actually got better. Oh, and Lizzy pooped THREE times today!!! That topped off the morning, too. It was one of those days I'd wished I never crawled out of bed. On a lighter note, Lizzy slept all night, didn't even cry for her binky. She took a good nap for me today, so I can do some laundry, and she's been pretty good at playing so I can get things done. Needless to say, a bad day's turned to good. I think I'm getting a cell phone out of all this. DH doesn't think we can afford it, but there's many plans out there that are reasonable. I'm going to discuss it with him today. I've been wanting to get one since I got prego, so here's my excuse! Ok enough venting. I've got just a few personals, Lizzy wants me to play with her...

Barb - Happy 9mos Haley!!!

Dawn- Maybe some toofies are coming in???

Lynn - Welcome back, we missed you. Glad to hear Lexie's doing well. Thanks for sending the sleep fairy!

Ok, got to go someone's whining. I wish I could stay home with her all the time! Bye

Hello again. Sorry to be a pain but I have another question. It probably has no right or wrong answer. Can A six month old be spoiled? When my grandma suggested he was already at 2 wks I just thought that was impossible (still do for a 2 wk old). But last sunday we went for a big family B.B.Q. He missed his afternoon nap because he was too excited to sleep and wasn't put down once. He had a great time. But since then he's been crying at night when it's bed time which he hasn't done in 2 mos. I'm not very good at letting him cry it out, I just let him cry a little longer each night before I go in and nurse him to sleep. Also he's started throwing temper tantrums- big wild and crazy ones- for no reason that I can see. Is that some sort of phase? I don't nkow what to do about it. He had a good night sleep last night (12 1/2hrs)waking 3 times. For last few nights he was trying to wake every hour and a half.Oh well he seems a bit better today, only 1 tantrum and he's laying on the floor beside me playing with his activity gym contentedly, so the spoiled thing was maybe just lack of sleep- I don't know. It' hard being a first time mom trying to figure things out. Anyways I would appreciate any insightyou have to offer- sometimes it's hard my perspective.

Hi! Wow am I embarrassed! I was trying to see if my posting would work. Well I guess it did! Oops!!
Anyway, I am new to this site and I had a question for all the experienced mommies out there. I started giving my 5 month old solid food and would like to make my own. I read that you shouldn't puree your own carrots because there may have chemicals or something in them. Has anyone else made there own carrots for babies? Or have any tips on making your own baby food? I would really appriciate the help! Thank you!

Hi ladies and babies!!

Welcome to the new mommy(ies).

Very little new to report other than I think the reason Kaleb doesn't like to sleep in his own bed is b/c it isn't soft enough. He's sleeping on a pillow now in his bed. I know send the SIDS police. It's the only way I have gotten him to sleep w/o holding him lately. I am going to buy those little egg crate lookin' mattress pads and put the flat side up, so his mattress is softer.
I also got a new vacuum yesterday. Did I tell you all that I have been w/o one for almost a month now? I have had to sweep(w/ a broom) my house. In that respect I'm glad it's only 900 sq ft. LOL!

Personals:

Melony: My BF's girlfriend is driving around w/ her Tae Bo tapes in her car so she can bring them to me. I have to find out if I'm allowed to do it from my DR next week. I am being tested for Thyroid problems and don't know if I'll be put on meds. So far he hasn't said no exercise, so I may start it w/o asking.

Layne: I hope you didn't get hurt rolling off your bench laughing:) You have an older child and one getting mobile so you know about chasing and hollaring:)

Lynn: welcome back!!!! LOL!

Nicholas: Congrats on the first steps! Now be sure to hug Mommy, lots and lots. Mommies think that we don't need them when we start walking, so they cry lots! I know my mommy is going to lose it when baby brother starts walking. Hugs Tailer.

Susanne: Tailer screams when I change the channel from Playhouse Disney!!! I happen to like Rolie Polie Olie though, my fav is Zowie. Tailer went to Blue's Clues live and now wants to see the Disney thing live too. I couldn't tell the dates for St Louis though it goes too fast!!

Jenni: WHat time for Cake?? I'll be there with bells on!!!

Barb: I don't think you are mean!!! My step monster was/is Manic Depressive and just plain looney!!!!! Living next door and living with are two different consepts! I lived w/ wacky woman for 3 years!! Her fav was throwing subway sandwiches against the window when her sons asked her a question! Lovely! Also, she too in her own way stole, her way was commiting fraud by installing telephone service and cable in MY NAME!!!!!! Love my credit record now, couldn't get a nickel for the gumball machine for almost 5 years!

Well I need to go clean, lucky me!!
Oh and Kaleb woke up so the pillow trick didn't last long.

Hello.
Hello, Dawn again.
Leah- your advice about pulling him into the breast when he bites works. Before I would always panic because it hurt so much and try to wedge his mouth open with my finger. Plus I would yell out which makes him laugh. I should have started pulling him into the breast sooner though because he drew blood last Sunday and now it really hurts to breast feed on that side. I think I'm going to mention it to my docter tommorrow.
Suzi- Thanks for the welcome. I may soon be weaning my son too. Only problem is I don't think he wants to be weaned yet. He loves eating solid food especially cereal but he hates formula. I have a feeling it isn't going to be easy.

Hi everyone, it's Barb! I can't believe that Haley is 9 months old today - The time really has been flying! She climbed up the stairs at my sister's house yesterday (we don't have stairs in side the house.)

DH left the house in a huff this morning because I wouldn't let him get Haley out of bed before he left for work (at 6:30 am) She was sleeping until 7 am until just before the time change, and DH got used to being able to see her before he left for work. Now that DST is in effect, she sleeps until 7 am again. Then you know what he does? He gets her up (no diaper change) plays with her for a few minutes, then gives her to me and leaves. Then I have to wrangle her while still trying to get ready for work myself. It just pi$$es me off that DH is insensitive to the fact that when she is awake, she's work for me. No matter how many times I tell him this, he still doesn't get it ....GGGGGRRRRRRR!

PERSONALS:

LYNN: YAY! So happy to see you back in Internet action again! 25! Is that it? You are just a baby yourself - LOL!

TERRI R: Welcome to you & John Paul! I'm not sure that there is much you can do for a stuffy nose at 1 month except suction it out with the bulb suringe. Call your Pediatrician if it really affects his sleep or he starts coughing!

MELONY: Tae-bo? There are not enough hours in the day for me to workout let alone think about the extra 15 pounds I still have from 9 months ago. I haven't shown my belly to anyone 'since I was Lynn's age!

CHARLINE: Sounds like you do have a big day planned! I hope the weather cooperates. Since you may not be around until after the big day .... HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY HAYDEN!!! I will miss you both when you move onto TT - come and visit us often!

ROBIN: NOOOO! You can't paint your oven - then I WILL be the last person in the US to have a harvest gold stove/oven (and what about the matching hood? That thing is sooo charming!) Thank goodness the fridge is beige and so is the DW!

VALERIE: The vacuum cleaner and the hair dryer work good for this purpose too! I used to clean the house every time she took a nap when she was an infant - now I blow dry my hair when she is restless in the morning and bam! she's back to sleep! Also in my house the laundry in the basement is right under her room - there is nothing like the agaitating washer or tumbling dryer to lull them to sleep. Re: The x-bf .... very scary stuff!!

LAYNE: I'm LOL thinking about you pumping and spraying yourself! I know, I know this whole "zero tolerence" stuff is getting crazy ... some kindergarten kids in Central Jersey somewhere (I read it in the paper this week)got suspended from school for playing cops and robbers and yelling "I'm going to shoot you! Bang-Bang!" OK, I know what happened at Columbine was awful, but I swear I remember kids playing "Cops and robbers" and before that "Cowboys and Indians" when I was that age and nobody thinking there was anything wrong with that. Making a federal case out of every word that pops out of a childs mouth is not going to solve society's problems either.

JENN: We had snow squalls yesterday in central NJ. What the??? I hope this means that next summer will be much cooler than last ... that was unbearable! HAPPY 9 month B'day to LIZZY!

JENNI: I think I will cry at the first step too ... If I get to see it! Congratulations!!!

Well, time to get to work. I'll stop by later!

TerriR&John Paul - Glad to see you made it. I just started posting here a couple days ago myself. Jaymi is 7 wks today. About the stuffy nose, Jaymi had problems with that and my Dr recommended trying a couple drops of warm salt water in each nostril. I also tried the PediaCare decongestant infant drops. Fill it to the 0.4 mark - it works, plus I think it helped Jaymi sleep.

Lisa&Xavier - Have a great trip. I have to make a 6 hr one w/Jaymi tomorrow.

Good Morning mommies and babies....Finally, it's suppose to be 60 degrees today...maybe we can get outside and play! Nicholas took his first unassisted step last night:0) He was standing in front of me and and held out my hand and said "come here", he took one step and then grabbed me all giggly! I cried!!!

Lisa - Best wishes for a safe, smooth 13 hour trip!

Lynn - Welcome back to our most quoted celebrity! Glad to hear Ms. Lexie is doing well. Send pics of the new hair do!

TerriR - Hi and welcome to you and John! Happy 1 month to John!!! Are you using a cool mist vaporizer? I find that works the best when Nicholas is all stuffy.

Melony - In 11 months time I have gone through like 100 batteries for the damn FP fishbowl! Tae-Bo??? Brave woman!

Charline - Elmo party sounds like fun! We to have 30+ people on our guest list. I'll bet Hayden's haircut is soo cute. Take lots of pics and send them out!

Robin - I know, I do need to get out more often

Valerie - Hope Devin is back to normal and you both get some well needed sleep!

Layne - I think it's cute, DS didn't believe you about his sister not getting a penis. My DH is still laughing about it and thought it was soooo cute! Hope he didn't get into too much trouble for just being curious.

Suzanne - Have a safe trip to NY

Shelley - Cherrios and Goldfish crackers are the best while dinning out. We don't leave home without them.

Jenn - Happy 9 months Lizzie!

Barb - Congrats to Haley! Teeth and standing all in one day, busy little one! Happy 9 months Haley!!!

Alison - Huggies Wipes too! I wonder if they put some type of fruit flavoring in them. He only gets it for a minute or two. Tell me, does Triston drink bathwater too or is my son really weird?

Suzi - Pass the tissues here please, I've been finding myself weeping when I look at his baby book, newborn pictures and planning his party. It's so hard to believe our little babies are going to be toddlers soon. Guess it's time to plan another one, are you in for another B'day buddy???

Well, I guess thats it for now, my bathroom is begging me to clean it. Have a great day everyone, hello to anyone I missed and big hugs to those babies.

Well, well, well.... will ya look at this?!? Lynn has internet service again!!!! I swear, people are so dumb!! They shut it off, b/c they thought it was "too confusing" to just change it from RM's name into mine!! Argh!!

But... the important part is that Im back!!!

Hi!! I missed you all VERY much! So, what have I missed???

Welcome to all the new mommies and babies!! Youre going to love it here!! :)

Im not going to try to catch up on all the personals I missed, I havent even had a chance to read the posts, there is so much I missed!!! Ive actually been WORKING at work (IMAGINE!!!) so I havent even been able to jump on there!!

So, lets see... Lexie is continuing to sleep great, no more teeth (I think 4 are enough for now!!) She is eating better again, and she is pooping normally without having prunes everyday!!! Yay!!! :) Still working on the crawling, and standing!! But, when she DOES stand herself up, she tries to be brave and let go of what she is holding onto, without realizing that she hasnt mastered BALANCE yet, which is pretty crucial to be able to stand on your own!! She'll learn!! All to soon for me, Im sure!!

I did see that they quoted me AGAIN!! hee hee I think they like me! *bashful smile* Char, how many times is this now?!!? I think 5 or 6!! :) :) :)

My birthday is next Wednesday!! I cant believe it is here already!! THe quarter-of-a-century mark for me this year!!! I remember a time when 25 was SO OLD.....

Lexie's christening is coming up in a few weeks. Im getting excited! I have to get these invites out by this weekend! Carrie (BF) and I are going dress shopping on Sunday. We wouldnt even have to go if she had just bought the dress I wanted when Sears still had it!! ugh! I hope I can find that dress again!! I loved it!

Im skimming the posts here, and IM LOL at Layne's post about being in the bathroom at work!! Sorry I couldnt give you your needed last minute advice sweetie!!

Shelley, you reminded me! I tried giving Lexie cheerios... but, she just plays with them!! Everything else, she puts in her mouth! I give her food, and she plays with it!! GO figure!! I also gave her those Gerber Graduate Cereal Snackin' Sqares... she likes them, but they are kinda big for her to be shoving the whole thing into her mouth... which she tries. So... I broke them into little pieces... guess what she did with them?? Yup! Played with them!!! LOL!!

And, Im with Jenn on the weather!! It was FREEZING here today!! Come on spring!!! And my moms in Florida, soaking up the rays!!! She just called, and said it was cool today... only in the 70's...... B!T@#!!!!! :) I would KILL for 70's!!! LOL!! Im freezing!

IM sending the sleep fairy, and tooth fairy to anyone who wants/needs them.... please form a line, and take a number!!! ONE line ladies!! One line!! :)

Melony~~I have FP Aquarium too, and so does Robin, and they do eat batteries!! I try not to use ours TOO often!! :)

Robin~~how was Erin Brokavich?! Good luck vibes to DH for his job!!

Well, I really have to go to bed!! Im beat! For some reason, I was up past 2am last night, I just couldnt get to sleep!!

OH! I almost forgot!! I cut off all my hair today!! NO more whining about it falling out!! I will take a pic soon, so anyone who is interrested can see my new do!! DH hates it!! But I love it, so ppppffftttt! to him!! :)

Have a great night!! See ya soon!!! YAy!!! HUgs and kisses and all fairy wishes!!! :)

Love,

ps: I did not re-read this... sorry for typos, Im sure there are a million!! :)

Hi Everybody,

This is my first time posting on the babies board - have been posting on the pregnancy board for almost 9 months and loved it. It suddenly dawned on me that I should check out this board and say hello.

My son, John, is 1 month old today. With the exception of extreme sleep deprivation, we are all doing very well.

I do have a question for all the experienced mommies. John has been very 'stuffy nosed' for the last week. I have been running the vaporizer in our room at night but it has not really helped. The wierd thing is, he is only stuffy at certain times - night time seems the worst.

Any suggestions?

Melony here again. I was just wondering, are any of you doing Tae-Bo? I just started but I think it's something I may stick with. If I can just limber up a little more, I think it will actually feel good. Right now, every time I try to kick, I hear something crack, like an ankle or a knee. It's truly pathetic! Anyway, my 35th is coming up in June and I am determined to go out on the town wearing hip huggers and a belly shirt....sounds trashy, but dammit, I'm tired of baggy clothes!

Jaymi just went to sleep after watching the fishies in her "fake" aquarium for like, an hour. No wonder the batteries don't last long. I'm thinking of writing F/P and telling them I deserve some battery rebates or something.

Some of you were asking about my occupation - I'm an employee benefits consultant. I manage a small office - just me and my boss. He's never there (except when I want him gone). He's pretty cool about my schedule b/c he depends on me so much, I guess. He never has a problem when I need to leave unexpectedly b/c of kids or whatever else crops up. It feels more like we're partners in the business. I helped him to start his own company a year ago and we're really thriving, so I'm thinking of asking for my own assistant soon so I can go in the field more.

Well, someone woke up so I better go. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ sweet dreams!

Hi ladies & babies, Charline & Hayden here. I can't believe that Hayden is almost 1! I just took Hayden to get his first professional haircut this a.m. He looks so cute. I am still cleaning up a storm trying to get ready for his parties on Saturday. I'm going to take a break to go to the park with Hayden and enjoy this beautiful day.

Welcome to all new mommies!
It took me forever to just skim the posts over the past 2 weeks. Here are some personals...

KathieG-Wow, it's sounds like you had quite the trip. You are amazing! Glad to hear that you made it safely. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get the job.

Sonata-Your trip sounds beautiful! I'm glad that you had such a nice time.

Robin-Glad to hear that you had a nice trip. Wow, Timmy is 20lbs! I think he weighs the same as Hayden who is almost a year.

Barb-Sorry to hear that Haley has to wear the brace indefinitely:( Yay for Haley pulling herself up to a standing postion! The baby party guest list is 7 babies. Our guest list for the party at our house is 30+ people. So, I would say that is pretty big. Congrats to Haley for getting her front tooth. Hayden just got his also last week.

Lynn-Wow, 4 teeth, crawling, and standing in her crib! Miss Lexie has been really busy the last couple of weeks that I wasn't here. They quoted you again! I bet that you will be quoted more times than me by the time you go to the TT board.

Suzi-Yay for Jacob cutting tooth #8, crawling and saying ma ma! Happy 11 month Birthday to Jacob! I would love to see his new pics. I bet that he looked cute on the pony.

Connie-Yay for Danielle climbing the stairs by herself and pulling herself up to a standing position. Thanks for asking about me.

Jenni-The Blue's Clues party sounds adorable. We are having an Elmo party at the house for Hayden. Nicholas sounds so cute with his baby! Happy 11 month Birthday to Nicholas! He sounds so cute with his new pets saying fis fis. I am holding up and trying not to get too stressed out with the 2 parties in one day and 30+ people coming to our house. Thanks for asking.

Chris-Yay for Kaleb pulling himself up to a standing position.

Leah-It sounds like Max is really getting around by rolling and scooting. Hayden rolled all over until he was almost 9 months than he started crawling. No thanks about cleaning your house. I'm still cleaning mine during Hayden's naps. My family is coming on Friday a.m. so I have to finish by tommorrow.

Martha-Glad to hear from you. We will be joining you in a few days on TT. Hayden did take a couple of steps, but isn't walking around yet. He is still mostly holding onto the furniture. It sounds like Mary Beth is doing great.

JennE-Glad to hear that Anna is doing well. I will keep your niece, Emily in my prayers.

Kelley-Congrats to Claire for crawling and cruising!

Valerie-I hope that Devin's tummy feels better. It sounds like she is growing nicely.

Stephanie Thurman-That's great that you have some free time. How about sewing or reading a book. That's what I like to do on my free time which doesn't come to often.

Alison-Thanks for the early birthday wishes for Hayden and for wishing us a good day. I'll take lots of pictures and tell you guys when I get them back.

Layne-Thanks for the congrats for Hayden's tooth and his first steps. Also, thanks for the Birthday wishes. We had to have it all in one day because everyone is coming from out of state.

Hello to everyone that I have missed. I'm sorry that this is so long. I'll try to check in tommorrow. If not, I won't be back until after the party. Have a good night everyone.

Hello! Not too much going on around here. Just catching up on some personals.

Valerie- I hope the Sleep Fairy visits you tonight. I can remember a couple of days of laying in bed with Timmy because I was so tired and trying to snooze while he was still awake. I hope you get some zzzz's tonight.

Jenni- The Titanic??? You need to get out ot see amovie!:)

Lisa- Glad to hear X slept well for you. That's a long time!

Suzi- Jacob is such a doll! I love his curley hair. Is that from you or DH?

Melony- Welcome! We have the Peaceful Planet Aquarium too. I change the batteries once a week. It's getting so expensive but it's the only thing Timmy will fall asleep with.

Alison- That stinks that your BILS didn't take care of the house. Remodeling is hard work- especially when you have a little one to take care of. I'm looking foward to our shopping trip too. Timmy is in desperate need of PJ's but I'm going to wait so I can get them at Carter's.

Barb- LOL about your "yellow" kitchen. Our oven and fridge are a beautiful Harvest Gold. Yuck! DH is going ot paint them this summer. I can't wait!! They kind of clash with our sage cabinets.:)

Jenn- Glad the milk is working out for you. I can't wait to give Timmy milk so I can wean him from BM. I want my body back!!:)

Shelley- Uncertainty is horrible. We're hangin in there. Thanks!

Layne- LOL about DS thoughts about a penis popping out!!

Time for bed!!

Hi everyone! Valerie & Devin here. Well, yesterday wasn't much better for Devin as far as sleeping or her mood goes. She was so funny. She was crying her head off, and DH was trying to console her, when my mom turned the blender on. She fell asleep instantly. Mom turned the blender off, she was up howling again! This happened afew times til she finally fell asleep for good! I've been putting her in my bed so that I can fall asleep while she's still awake. Not the best habbit to fall into, but I REALLY need to get some sleep! I'm gunna go buy a side sleeper with these really big round things on the end to use when I put her in my bed. I'm just so scared of rolling on her. She's been back to her regular amount of sleeping & eating today, so maybe tonight we'll get some sleep.

Can I tell you how smart Devin is!? She was laying on her side on my lap, and was like 1/2 asleep after nursing. Her top shoulder started drifting backwards, like she was gunna roll onto her back. Well, this startled her- I guess she thought she was going to fall, and she jerked awake and grabbed my shirt! It may have just been a coincidence or a reflex, but I like to think I have a baby genious for knowing to grab my shirt to keep from falling.

OK, I'm having REALLY WEIRD dreams b/c of sleep deprivation, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send the sleep fairy this way!!

Connie: I got chills and all teary when I read that story!

Alison: Don't you just love it when someone elase goes on a shopping spree for you!!!

Robin: I can't remember the last time I went to the movies! I hope your DH doesn't stress himself out TOO much.

Stephanie: It wont take you long to get used to the board, It really is a great place to come to.

Lisa: Now it's my turn, send the Sleep Fairy my way after she visits X tonight!!

Melony: I was wondering when you would show up here. I had visited the PT board after Devin was born & saw that Jaymi was born the day after (She was early too, right? Devin was 3 weeks early)! That's great that you're able to bring Jaymi into the office with you. What kind of job do you have? I work in a mental health clinic, and do some field work, so that's absolutely not an option for me :-( I have the peaceful planet aquarium too. We ran out the batteries after like 2 weeks! We used to put the Aquarium lights on & use the wave setting on a sound machine, b/c it plays longer than the Aqu. We haven't bothered to replace the batteries yet, so we only use the sound machine now.

Barb: I understand re: the guy next door. My old HS boyfriend was manic depressive & a recovering drug addict (I didn't know when I started dating him) He was a really good guy, but decided to go off his meds, AMA. Well, he wasn't such a great guy after that. Everytime I tried to break up with him, he threatened suicide if I left him , and after I finally made the break, he came to my house w/ a bunch of rocks to "heal" me, and told me I was lucky that he wasn't the type of guy to kidnap & rape me for "What I did" to him. I think he had more problems than just the bi polar disorder!

Jenn: It's really cold here on Lond Island too. I decided to spend the day inside cuddeling with Devin!

Suzanne: DH & I love Pancho Villa's, but have never tried Sitar.

Layne: You hand express? I tried that when my milk first came in, but was not very good at it! Do you express enough for the next day or do you suppliment with formula? BTW, when I lost my top two teeth they were gone for over a year!!

That's it...

tadah!

Ok so I'm sitting in the shower stall at work It's nice with a bench and a lockable door.hand expressing milk as I do every day and I read Chris's post to Stephanie in regard to having two kids "my hobbies are chasing one and hollering at the other" I almost fell off the bench laughing. The people in the regular part of the bathroom must have been really wondering what I was doing in there! Back to sitting on the bench. Did you know that Breast milk is not a good hair styling tool? I accidentally squirted my bangs and now they're stick straight and pointing out at weird angles and there's no working with them. Just in case any of you were thinking of using bm for a mousse or gel substitute. lol.... No only am I laughing in there I come out with these weird hairdos! Can you imagine what they think?? OK... Question 2...Who installed the Baby's Today radar in my boss' office? Every single time I try to post, he walks in my office. Jeesh! Good thing he's a nice man!

Raising kids does NOT get easier...remember the other day when I said Nick got in trouble for using "bathroom words" at school? Well it turns out that he asked a girl on his bus if she had a vagina??? We recently talked about the differences between girls and boys and apparently he didn't beleive me when I told him his little sister wouldn't be getting a penis. He thought they popped out when girls got older. I've always been really open about this stuff, but he refused to beleive me. Before I had the chance to get him a book, he goes and does this. I think it was harmless curiosity, but they were making a federal case about it. Sexual harrassment at 7? Jeesh! Well I straightened him out (I HOPE) and he wrote an apology note to the busdriver for "distirving" her. Needless to say I was mortified!

The tooth fairy came to our house last night, but not to deliver Bumpy Gums her new choppers she was leaving Nicholas money for his prize. Yep, it came out. I guess I'm going to suck it up and have the pics taken anyway. He does look kinda cute.

I'm off to do some more houseshopping before it's time to go to home. Between this and realty, I'm not going to have much time to work lol....

A few personals before I go..

Melony & Jaymi~ I have the Fisher Price Fish tank thingy too and it EATS batteries like nothing I've ever seen before!

Shelly&Caitlin~If she likes variety, we have the fisher price fish tank thingy and that plays like 5 different things and we also have the Kick & Play Piano in her crib. She can play it herself or it will play like 5 different songs continuously for about 10 minutes. Between the two, she's happy! The Fish one eats batteries though.

Leah&Max~Glad you got to read and pump and that maybe I'm not too crazy because it worked for someone else. Of course I would read the board even if it didn't help!

Chris,Kaleb&Tailer~As you saw, you had me rolling! sorry to hear about your bad day the other day! You know how the nurse pulled the tick right off? Well that used to happen to me when my car would breakdown, I'd call DH and after I tried everything, he'd come and it would start right up! He'd be so mad that he had to drive!

Valerie&Devin~Lindsey was the same exact way when she go her first shots. There was NO consoling her not tylenol or anything. She screamed for HOURS! The next time she got her shots she was fine. Now I know that we plan to spend the day at home after getting shots!

Jenn~Prayers to you, your family and Emily!

Jenni&Nicholas~See above as to what my charming (NOT) DS said. I'm still embarrassed, but DH thinks it's the cutest thing and has been telling everyone making me more embarrassed!

Charline&Hayden~Happy Birthday! Good luck with the parties. You are ambitious having two in one day! Congratulations on the new tooth and the first steps! Someone's been a busy boy!

Lisa&X~I let Miss Lindsey cry it out. After a few days it stopped and now she crys if I don't put her in bed on time and stops as soon as she hits the mattress. Go figure! I loved that you posted that you were a brave Mommy while Xavier got his shots! I always get tears in my eyes when Lindsey gets shots. It gets easier though because I don't cry (as much) when Nicholas gets his! If he crys in real pain though I still cry.

Lynn~Where are you? I figured you'd have last minute advice for me before the pictures tomorrow!

Sleep and happiness to you all!

Hello, everyone!
I haven't posted in a few days...it's been hectic around here! I had that 70's party that kept me running from 8 a.m on Saturday. I think it was the first time I went out since Kevin was born that I actually spent 4 hours not worrying about the boys!

DH and I had our townhouse built in a planned community 1 1/2 yrs ago and now the Board of Ed is trying to redistrict our portion of the community out into a new school! I've been the petition lady in this area!!!!! My kids aren't even in the school yet, and I'm acting like pta mom. I want them to be able to ride their bikes to school someday, and if they go to this new school, it will be on a major highway, unlike the school in the community-no way my angels would be riding their bicycles there!

Anyone have older kids who are hooked on Playhouse Disney? Neil adores all the shows, and they are going on tour! They are doing a weekend at a mall thats 45 minutes away from here, so we will be going next month. Too bad it's not his birthday weekend. He's waking up every day and saying "todays my birthday, mommy" and I have to let him know he's got almost 2 weeks to go.

I'll catch back up with everyone on Monday. We're heading up to NY in the morning to see the new babies! (Val, I may end up at Pancho Villa's, either there or Sitar. DH and I talked about restaurants we miss!)

Hope the toofie fairy visits the teething kiddos. Don't need the sleep fairy, these kids adjusted to daylight saving in one night :( So much for that hour to myself in the morning!

Hiya mommies & babies! Shelley & Caitlin here. We just wanted to check in for a few minutes. We have been out & about today - came home for lunch then we are off again. Stopped by WM to pick up catfood - think this is the first time since Cait was born that I didn't buy anything at all for her while we were there. Made up for it for me - bought a couple pairs of new shorts.

Can't remember who recommended cheerios, but bless you! We went out for mexican food last nite with friends and Cait munched on cheerios the whole time. Well, many of them ended up in the floor, but she was completely occupied - except when she got a handful of refried beans off my plate!

I know some of you are also SAHM, but how come you guys are never on at the same time as I am? Probably better for me - I don't hang around the computer as much, LOL

Jenn: So sorry about the flurries there - have to brag - we have an expected temp near 85 today. Totally awesome!!

Barb: Congrats to Haley for pulling all the way up to the tub! Cait hasn't pulled up, but loves to stand there and bang on the side of the tub.

Alison: what kind of music does Triston's new Barney play? I am always looking for something to get Cait to sleep. She tires of the same old thing (weird, she thrives on routine most of the time)

Melony: Welcome to you and Jaymi. So lucky that you can take Jaymi to work with you. How's that going?

Robin: I hope things get better for your dh - no wonder he is totally stressed! Uncertainty is always the worst (to me anyway). Hang in there!

Stephanie: Welcome - I love this place although I don't manage to keep up very well.

Alison: MIL sounds very helpful! Hope you guys have a good trip - enjoy your break!

Connie: your story was beautiful - tears filled my eyes thru the whole thing! Danielle sounds like a funny one - sometimes you just can't help but laugh at their antics.

Hope all of you are well - Cait is getting very very squirmy so we are going to head out. Take care and Cait sends hugs & kissies to all her buddies!

Happy "hump day" mommies & babies. It's finally Wednseday, and just when I thought it was Spring, I got fooled. We've got flurries here in Central NY. I hate it! Lizzy was in her spring jacket yesterday, and today she's in her winter coat, yuk! Tomorrow it's going to be 50 again. I wish the weather would decide what it's going to do. Ok, enough venting about this stupid weather.
I just have to say this, I love daylight savings time. I've got Lizzy going to bed approx. 7:30 P.M. and sleeping until about 7:00 - 7:30 or so. I love it! Today she didn't wake up until 7:45! I actually had to wake her up, so we could get going. I hope she sleeps like this on the weekend. Sure, she wakes up once or twice during the night for her pacifier, but I can get used to this 7:30 A.M. deal! I feel like I can take on the world, when I have mornings like this. I even needed my alarm this morning.
Lizzy's been getting 2oz of milk with 4oz of formula in her bottles this week. So far, no reactions. I didn't think she would, but I still wanted to take precaution. I noticed we're not going through formula as fast this way, so maybe we can save a few dollars, too. We buy milk anyway, so that's no big deal. I'll do this for another month, and slowly increase the amt of milk and decrease the amt of formula.
We tried juice in a sippy cup last night. I don't think she's ready for that just yet. She got more juice on her chin than she did in her mouth. It was entertaining to watch her bang the cup around, though.

Here's some personals:

ROBIN-Glad you enjoyed your night out, I'm still waiting for mine! It sounds like it's time for your DH to get out on the job market. Good luck!

STEPHANIE-I agree, this is a great place to come to, to vent, and to "listen." I'll be honest, I'm addicted. Sometimes I log on even when there's nothing to say, just to read the posts. As far as hobbies go, use your imagination. My latest is making an incredible scrapbook for Lizzy. I've come addicted to that, too. I'm not a SAHM, unfortunately, but I use every spare time I've got to work on the scrapbook. Use the internet to help you find something. Have fun!

ALISON-Enjoy your "outting" in MI. LOL about the Barney story, my DH would agree with yours!

CONNIE-That was an incredible story. It was good timing to post that, too, because we're currently doing a drive for the March of Dimes at work. I've already signed up for WalkAmerica at the end of the month. I'm going to put Lizzy in her stroller and we're going to walk to support those babies out there born with complications. I'm so thankful Lizzy was born healthy, I thank God everyday! Anyhow, it brought tears to my eyes.

CHRIS-I know how you feel about the bump on Kaleb's head. I felt that way just a few weeks ago when Lizzy rolled of the bed and bumped her head. I was so scared, but all she got out of it was a little rug burn. I hope his bump goes away soon.

Ok, time for lunch! That means the day's half over...yeah!

HI everyone, It's Barb! Haley has one front tooth that just broke through the gum, and another should be following shortly ... thanks to that Tooth Fairy (She giveth, she taketh away ...) It's just like when she hit 5 months - she got the two bottom ones in! She also pulled herself all the way to a standing position on the outside of the tub last night! She's amazing me!

Hey, weird story I just have to tell - When DH & I were just living together, and the first year of our marriage, we lived in a duplex old victorian house in a small town near were we live now. We loved our LL - but they needed to move on (they lived on the other side of the duplex) so they sold the house. This couple just a bit younger than us bought the house and moved in. We liked her, but he was just so strange!

He always was working, working, working (on the house)- he would always have some excuse to have to get into our side for something. He was verbally abusive to his wife (in front of me!) They vinyl sided this beautiful clapboard Victorian house - that didn't even need a paint job yet! (That was my personal beef with them.) Anyway, this guy kept doing all these weird things - and things that did not need to be done. I was afraid my DH was going to beat the living cr@p out of him one day (they got into arguments all the time.) So shortly after I discovered they were stealing cable from us, the house we live in now came up for rent and we moved. We lied to get out of the lease saying that we were going to purchase the home (he made us sign a 3 page lease - and I put in a clause that said we would be released from the lease on the condition that we purchased a home.) Normally not the lying type of people - DH & I justified the lie to ourselves by saying that they were stealing cable from us - and I feared for this loser's life at the hands of my DH.

Well, here we are 3 years later. They are divorced - she sold the house and moved back to Maryland. Guess what - DH & I were right, there was something wrong with the guy - he was diagnosed as a manic-depressive! It was so much fun to share that story - although sad in one way because they have a daughter - but in another I'm so glad she left him. He made our living there so miserable when we it just used to be the greatest place ... so I hope he's good and miserable now - what comeas arounf , goes around I guess! (OK, and for everyone who is thinking that it is so sad that he has a mental illness ((and that I'm mean)) - I say try living with that for any length of time!)

I feel that I can finally put that behind me now. I really got a little crazy myself living there.

On to the Personals:

JENNI: I love a clean house - it's one of those things I really miss post PG and baby. I know that I will never have time for all the stuff I used to do - and my house you really have to keep up with. I also love gardening and lawn care. DH used to count on me to mow the lawn (an acre) I love riding that tractor around. Oh well, maybe I will get to mow when she naps this summer (my sister does - she keeps the baby monitor on her belt and checks it periodically -of course her DD sleeps so well she doesn't really have to worry.)

ROBIN: Was your kitchen Harvest Gold or Avacado Green? Mine is still Harvest Gold - I pretend it is yellow.

STEPHANIE: We have a lot of fun here - and as you can see by my large, not-about-baby post above, we talk about more than just the babies!

ALISON: One down, one to three to go (there could be more than just the front two coming in!)I wouldn't mind getting away ... But I know I would miss her terribly -even if I never get anything done when she's awake!

MELONY: Welcome to you and Jaymi ... You are back at work already? With the baby? I could not concentrate! What kind of work do you do???

LISA: So glad that you got some sleep. I still value its' importance when Haley is teething - just another reason NOT to sleep!

Well, I must go get something done today .. I've got a networking cocktail party thing to go to tonight and DH is picking up Haley from DC - I should get home just in time to tuck her cuteness in!

Good morning everyone! I think the sleep fairy decided to visit everyone last night. Sice Triston got that Barney Monday he's been sleepin till almost 9! I won't complain. Not much new here so I'll do the personals now.

Robin- Our house belongs to MIL. Before my FIL passed away they let my two BIL's move in and totally destroy the house. They were in Findlay so they didn't see everything that was going on but still... anyways the walls had holes in them, the bathroom was falling apart(literally), the carpet was so nasty I wouldn't walk barefoot on it let alone put Triston down on it. The one BIL also started several projects and either never finished or screwed them up. Needless to say there was/is a lot of work DH and I had/have to do to make this house decent. We have done all the work ourselves. We haven't had anyone hired so it's a long, slow process so I feel for you because I know what your going through. Hope your DH feels better. BTW we are going to Birch Run too(possibly) I wish you could join us! I can't wait till our shopping trip!

Suzi- I can't wait to see Jacob's pictures!

Melony- Welcome to you and Jaymi. I hope you like this as well as the pg board. I think you will.

Lisa- I know what you mean about wanting to get away from DH. He tends to get on my nerves badly. Hope you enjoy your time w/o DH. I'm glad X slept so well for you! May he keep it up!

Jenni- Several people have told me not to give Triston a wipe to chew on. I figure it keeps him still and quiet and he doesn't have it very long so why not? Just out of curiosity what kind of wipes do you use? I use Huggies. I was wondering if they were the same kind. If you decide to go to TT right away be sure to visit. We'll miss you and Nicholas!

Well I need to go. I have to get Triston's stuff packed( and mine too for that matter) and clean out the van. We get Aaron tonight so my day is cramped. I'll talked to everyone Friday or Saturday. Have a good couple of days and kisses to the little ones!

Good Morning Ladies! Just wanted to let you all know about a couple of things. For all you NASCAR fans here is a contest for a T-shirt and maybe even a new race car! Go to www.outbacksteakhouse.com/html/nascar/nascarcontests.htm to enter.
Also here is an awesome deal for those of you who order stuff on the net. www.healthcentralrx.com has a deal where the more you spend, the bigger your discount. If you get $30 in your cart, it will deduct 50% so you're cost will be $15! They have diapers, wipes, sippy cups, bottles, and all kinds of toiletry item. The prices are a tiny bit higher than a Walmart, but with the discount I saved a bundle. They have free Shipping too! Just thought I'd let you know. I might place another order for just diapers. I don't think I could ever beat 4 pkg.'s for $15.

I will post later, just wanted to let you guys know about these. I am so bummed right now. It is going to be 90degrees today! I'm not ready for this!

Okay, guys - I finally decided I had time to cross over to the other side. I haven't posted here before b/c I've been soooo busy! Since Jaymi was born on 2-17, I have been working from home. This is my first week back into the office and I can't believe how far behind we are. Jaymi comes to the office w/me - I set up her playpen in the kitchen area and brought some of the comforts of home to help calm her.

I hope to see some of my old friends from the PG board here and do some catching up.

HOLLY&TRENT (If you're there) I think you have the FP Planet Aquarium, right? Have you been going through batteries like crazy? Maybe there's just something wrong w/mine, but I'm on my 3rd set and Jaymi's only 7 wks old!

Better get back to work - have a great day mommies!

Good Morning Everyone. Suzi and Jacob here. Well, we went from 80 degree weather to 41 degree weather. I had to break out jeans and a long sleeve for Jacob this morning. This weather is nuts. It is suppose to be back in the 80's by this weekend.

Oh well, not much is going on around here so I will get right to personals.

Jenni, No, I can't believe they are going to be one!! Where has the year gone. I keep reflecting on my pregnancy, the birth process, bringing him home.....etc. Now, I'm planning his first b-day party. It makes me want to cry. My baby is growing up.

Robin, I have been wondering about that Erin Brockovich movie and if it was any good. Sorry to hear about your DH. I hope he starts to feel better and that things on the job front get better. I will send you Jacobs pics today!!

Stephanie, This is a great place. You will be very happy here!!

Alison, I don't think you are a bad Mommy, you just need a break and there is nothing wrong with that. Thanks for Jacobs b-day wishes and I will send pics today!!

Connie, What a sweet story. Thanks for posting it! Hope the girls did ok with their test. How does Danielle do with a peeled apple? Maybe I will try that with Jacob. Thanks for his b-day wishes. I will send his pics today! Get yours scanned soon so I can see them!

SleepFairy, Jacob has been doing very well with his sleep habits. THANK YOU!!!

Well, I guess that's it for now. Take care and maybe I will stop in a little later. Hugs to the babies.

Thank you to all who sent the sleep fairy! X had a good night last night. Slept from 9 pm to 4 am then until 8 am. Which means mommy got some sleep too. Val, how's Devi doing? I hope better. Damn those meanie dr's who stab our babies!!

Chris~ I wish we could call our ped. We have to call an 800 number. Dum dum nurses made me wait until TUES to get X checked out when he had the thrush. If we had different insurance, i would of had him checked out immediately.

Sleep Fairy~ THANK YOU!!

Connie~ The Smell of Rain *SOB!**

Alison~ your not a bad mommy for wanting a break! I'm looking forward to Indy so i can get the hell away from DH for a couple days while he fishes with his dad.

Robin~ my dad's health suffered terribly when he worked for Ameritech~ he was management and they were downsizing and he had more work piled up in his office, doing the work of 5. He finally retired when he was 52. Now he is better.

Baby is up and screaching!

Good Morning Mommies and babies! Not too much going on here today, the sun is out but it's still cold! When will warm weather come to stay????

Robin - Glad you enjoyed your night out at the movies. I think I need one of those...the last movie I saw was Titanic! Sad, I know.

Stephanie - A lot of us have been together since Pregnancy Today board. This is a great site though, and you may find it very addicting (aka a new hobbie LOL)

Alsion - I'm not sure, I know a lot of TT mom's, but I'll miss everyone here too. I give a wipe when I change him too, I thought I was the only one with a kid who likes the taste of wipes :0)

Suzi - Can you believe they are going to be 1 in a month? Too funny about almost getting Jacob fish too.

Connie - Thanks.

Leah - Thanks. Great job on pumping!

Chris - Yes I saw that episode and I'm thinking of giving it a try. Maybe I'll do a practice one and see how it comes out. Wanna come over for some cake? Glad Kaleb is okay and Tailer too. What a day you had!

Lisa - Hope Xavier is doing better today and you get some well needed sleep. X this is for you ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

Barb - Ugh! Please send some cleaning energy vibes my way or a nesting preggo...either one will do.

Valerie - Hope Devin is doing better for you.

Well, I guess that's it for now. Hello to anyone I missed and big hugs to those babies.

Good morning everyone! Last night I went to see Erin Brockovich with MIL. Loved it!! I put Timmy down to sleep before I left so DH could relax b/c he's not feeling well. When I came home at 10:00, Monster was wide awake! He only slept til 7:30 and had been up since then. I was so happy to see him up though. I had missed him so much and wanted to give him a big hug.

DH is having so many problems at work and he so stressed out that is affecting his health. He's been sick for 2 days now. The company he works for (I used to work there too) is shutting down all of their outside offices (including the one I worked for in Wisconsin). They've laid off 20% of the people in the corporate office. Thankfully DH was not one of them but many of his friends were. The bank told his company that they have 3 months to turn things around. We're not sure what's going ot happen then but it's getting scarey. It's a family owned company and unfortunately the president isn't able to see that his kids are running it into the ground. The bank even told the pres that it's not a daycare center and he should get his kids out of there. I guess time will tell.

Alison- Our house is 50 years old and hasn't been redecorated since 1975. We're almost done with the downstairs, then we have to move upstairs. I don't mind painting but it's tough with a little one!! Have fun in Frankenmuth! You're allowed to enjoy time without your little one. Everyone needs time to themselves. Hope things get better with you and DH.

Suzi- Please send me pics!!

Connie- That was a beautiful story. God is full of miracles. I wouldn't mind going to AZ, even if it's just to paint!:) Do you enjoy homeschooling? The thought has entered my mind a couple of times but I don't think I am organized or patient enough to do it. I give you a lot of credit for taking on that challenge.

Stephanie- This is really a great place and all the mommies here are wonderful. I think you'll really enjoy it.

Well it's time to make the grocery list for shopping today. I'm just not in the mood right now.

Hello mommies! Did you think I disapeared? We have had a busy few days. I have to tell you what my big boy did Sunday! He crawled up 3 stairs! We don't have stairs so the only practice he gets is at grandma's. Daddy was doing something on the landing so he decided to check it out. Then later I was praising him because he took a step and he started clapping his hands . It was so adorable! MIL went on a shopping spree again. She bought us a entertainment center, Triston a lulluby Barney(which DH hates!) and Aaron some clothes. Anything we say we need she gets. One more day and NO BABY! Thursday MIL and I go to MI! YA! I can't wait! Am I a bad mommy for wanting to be away from my child? I'll try to catch up with personals but no promoce.

Connie- Triston loves to chew on wipes. I give him one while I'm changing his diaper so he'll hold still. I'll send the info for the list shortly. I know this is a little old but no matter how your child is born you still gave birth to your child, you still had a pg, and you still did the most important thing you could do- letting your child have the best start in life possible for Your child!!!! Every woman is different, every child is different, and every pg is different. NO ONE has the right to judge you for what you did in your situation.

Chris- I think it's always worse for mommy then the child. You want to cry yourself when they get hurt!

Lisa- Is X feeling any better? I hope tonight goes better for you! I wish the sleep fairy on you!

Barb- How's Haley doing? You guys having a rough time with the teeth thing?

Robin- You live nearby, why don't you come over and paint for me? We have already painted the living room, hallway , the bedroom and redone the bathroom from the floor up. We still have to do the kid's bedroom, the kitchen, the two spare bedrooms and the addition. I told DH after this anymore painting and he could do it. I'll be in your neck of the woods on Thursday. I'll wave as I go by. LOL!

Valerie- It's not uncommon for babies to have rough nights after shots. Did you try baby Tylenol? That worked wonders for Triston.

Jenn- That is too cute with Nicholas and the fish! Our children are just growing up too fast! Soon we'll be on TT. I might wait awhile before "graduating" How about you?

Stephanie- I'm like all the other mommies on this board. Once I found it this became my hobby, life line, sanity keeper, and anything else you can think of. Welcome to the board.

Suzi- Happy 11 mo to Jacob! I want to see the pictures!

JennE- Your niece is in my thoughts and prayers!

Charline- 6 days! How do you stand it? I hope you have a really good day and WE WANT PICTURES! Happy birthday to Hayden! I know it's early but who knows when I'll get to post again?

Layne- I think a missing tooth wouldn't be bad for pictures. Just look at it as a milestone you'll always be able to look back on and remember!

Amber- That poem made me cry! I sent it to my mom, two sisters and a friend that has a baby. They all cried!

Lynn- 4 Teeth? Boy when she gets them, she gets them! No wionder she was hurting!

Shelley- Hi to you and Cait!

Leah- I sent that e-mail back to you. Sorry it took me so long. I've been really behind.

Well it's time to go. Hi to anyone I missed. BTW Triston said Barney yesterday. Plain as day too! Hugs and Kisses to all the babies!

Hey. I didn't mean to post the story yet. I accidentally hit my enter button. Sorry about the typos. I could figure out how to paste it into the post window so I had to retype the whole thing. I was starting to proofread it when I hit the button. I hope you enjoyed it. I got goosebumps when I read it.

O.K. So I fibbed a little. Thought I only had a couple posts. Turned into a long one. Sorry. Here is the sweet story. It was posted on the SAHM's site. I thought it was pretty special.

The Smell of Rain

A cold March wind danced around the dead of night in Dallas as the the doctor walked into the small hospital room of Diana blessing. Still groggy from surgery, her husband David held her hand as they braced themselves for the latest news. that afternoon of March 10, 1991, complications had forced Diana, only 24 weeks pregnant, to undergo an emergency cesarean to deliver the couple's new daughter, Danae Lu Blessing. At 12 inches long and weighing only one pound and nine ounces, they already knew she was perilously pre-mature. Still, the doctor's soft words dropped like bombs. "I don't think she's going to make it", he said, as kindly as he could. "There's only a 10% chance she will live throught the night and even then, if by some slim chance she does make it, her future could be a very cruel one". Numb with disbelief, David and Diana listened as the doctors described the devastating problems Danae would likely face if she survived. She would never walk, she would never talk, she would probably be blind, she would certainly be prone to other catastrophic conditions from cerebral palsy to complete mental retardation, and on and on. "No! No!" was all Diana could say. She and David, with their 5 year old son Dustin, had long dreamed of the day they would have a daughter to become a family of four. Now, within a matter of hours, that dream was slipping away. through the dark hours of morning as Danae held onto life by the thinnest thread, Diana slipped in and out of sleep, growing more and more determined that their tiny daughter would live- and live to be a healthy, happy young girl. But David, fully awake and listenting to additional dire details of their daughter's chances of ever leaving the hospital alive, much less healthy, knew he must confront his wife with the inevitable. David walked in and said that we needed to talk about making funeral arrangements. diana remembers " I felt so bad for him because he was doing everything, trying to include me in what was going on, but I just wouldn't listen, I couldn't listen." I said, "No, that is not going to happen, no way! I don't care what the doctors say. Danae is not going to die! One day she will be just fine, and she will be coming home with us!" As if willed to live by Diana's determination, Danae clung to life hour after hour, with the help of every medical machine and marvel her miniature body could endure. But as those first days passed, a new agony set in for David and Diana. Because Danae's under developed nervous system was essentially "raw", the lightst kiss or caress only intensified her discomfort, so they couldn't even cradle their tiny baby girl against their chests to offer the strength of their love. all they could do, as Danae struggled alone beneath the ultraviolet light int he tangle of tubes and wires, was to pray that god would stay close to their precious little girl. There was never a moment when Danae suddenly grew stronger. but as the weeks went by, she did slowly gain an ounce of weight here and an ounce of strength there. At last, when Danae turned two months old, her parents were able to hold her in their arms for the very first time. And two months later, though doctors continued to gently but grimly warn that her chances of surviving, much less living any kind of normal life were next to zero, danae went home from the hospital, just as her mother had predicted. Today, five years later, Danae is a petite but feisty young girl with glittering gray eyes and an inquenchable zest for life. She shows no signs, what so ever, of any mental or physical impairments. Simply, she is everything a little girl can be and more-but that happy ending is far from the end of the story. One blistering afternoon in the summer of 1996 near her home in Irving, Texas, Danae was sitting on her mother's lap in the bleachers of a local ball park where her brother Dustin's baseball team was practicing. As always, danae was chattering non-stop with her mother and several other adults sitting nearby when she suddenly fell silent. Hugging her arms across her chest, Danae asked, "Do you smell that?" smelling the air?" Smelling the air and detecting the approach of a thunderstorm, Diana replied, "Yes, it smells like rain." Danae closed her eyes and again asked, "Do you smell that?" Once again, her mother replied, "Yes, I think we're about to get wet, it smells like rain." Still caught in the moment, Danae shook her head, patted her thing shoulders with her small hands and loudly announced, "No, it smells like Him. It smells like God when you lay your head on His chest." tears blurred Diana's eyes as danae then happily hopped down to play with the other children. before the rains came, her daughter's words confirmed what Diana and all the members of the extended Blessing family had known in their hearts, all along. During those long days and nights of her first two months of her life, when her nerves were too sensitive for them to touch her, God was holding Danae on His chest and it is His loving scent that she remembers so well.

Hi ladies. I just have a moment and wanted to post something that touched my heart. I'll put it after a couple quick posts. Today is test day as both girls are taking their Spelling and Math tests. Danielle is happily knaughing on a peeled apple (her favorite while teething) so I thought I'd get on here a minute.
Danielle has mastered this standing up thing. She is now pulling herself up on everything and only using one hand. Her favorite passtime now is to open the wipe box and throw the wipes everywhere one at a time! She's a little stinker! I can already tell she's going to be a funny one.

Here's a couple personals and then a sweet story.

Robin-Want to come to AZ and paint? That's what I plan on doing over the next few months. It's almost impossible when I'm homeschooling so we'll take a little spring break and I'll try to get some done and then during the summer I hope to get a lot done. I started refinishing our back door over 1 1/2 years ago. Then I got preg. and couldn't work with the chemicals and didn't want to be around them while BF'g either. Then it was too cold to stain. Now I need to hurry and do it before it get's too humid. Hope I don't get pg too soon or I'll never get it done!LOL got your email- thx.

Charline-I was just asking someone where you were today. Glad all is going well. Two parties huh? I feel bad. We had huge parties for both Kathy and Stephie, but Matt never had one and Danielle probably won't either. It just got to be too much with all of our friends having several kids. We all started having smaller family get togethers. Unfortunately, most of my family is either gone or back East so unless Jim's parents make it over, it will just be us. I hope you have fun.

Jenn and Julianna-Anything new on your niece? We said a little prayer for her. Did you get my email?

Suzi-Happy 11 months to Jacob! I guess we're not too far behind. Please send me the pics. I'm going to have Leah scan some of my kiddos and send them out. If I wait till we get our new scanner hooked up we all might be on TT!

Barb-You had the weekend I wanted to have. We have so much work to do around here, but I was having problems with my back and DH had to do inventory on Sat so I got nothing done! I'm going to try to start cleaning the carpets today but I need to take it easy so my back doesn't get worse. Can I borrow you? The sleep fairy has been really good to us the last few weeks with few exceptions. I guess I can let you borrow her.

Leah-Is today the last day for your testing? We're having test day here. Stephie took two math tests so far and aced them. I sent your check out today. I hope your pictures from the park come out. My camera freaked too. I took a picture of Stephie sitting on the couch reading her American Girls book. She was holding her doll and looked so cute! I then turned around and took one of Danielle and then it just stopped. It wouldn't do anything so I tried rewinding it. It just kept going. So I took the batteries out and took it in the dark bathroom and took the film out and wound it up. I hope it's not ruined. Jim came home and played with it and now it's working fine. I guess I should have waited until he got home. Will you make me a copy if they turn out? I'm going to email you and yell at you for not taking your walk. You need to email me too though! I did get down on my hands knees vacuuming the den. I'm going to try again today, are you?

Valerie-glad Devin is doing so well. Sometimes the little ones just need to cry no matter what we do. Danielle had really bad gas when she was little and I used the drops. They really help. Also you can lay her down and move her legs like she's riding a bike and then take both of them and push them into her tummy (bending her knees) This will sometimes make them toot and help the pain. Sorry to hear you had a rough night. That happens once in a while.

Stephanie-Some days for a SAHM are boring, but believe me. As they get bigger, you won't have time to be bored. I just enjoy being with them. When I need a break, I let them watch a video or go play and I get on the computer, read, listen to some music, or watch something. I also play guitar and refinish furniture. I have cross stitched before, but usually I do things late at night and my eyes are too shot by then. Just find things you like to do. If I did all the housework that needs done, I'd never have time for anything else!

Jenni-Happy 11 months to Nick. I checked out the TT board yesterday and I have to admit the thought of leaving here was scarey for me. Even though I recognized a couple names I felt like I couldn't relate yet. It seemed like most of the kids there were 16 months and up. I may drag it out a little. I'll miss these guys too much even if it's only for a few months.

O.K. I'm going to do the story on a separate post as it is kind of long, but well worth the read.

Have a great day ladies!

Hi everyone. We are doing testing right now. People keep complaining about how little the kids in our state know but they only give them 7 mos. of the year to learn. Oh well, at least this is the last time I'll have to do this for awhile.

I tried Layne's trick yesterday of reading while I pumped. It worked! I pumped 7 oz as opposed to my usual 6. I can't do that every day though.

Max slept until 4 last night again. I wish he would pick a schedule and stick with it. The two nights before he was up at 11, and 3, and 6. I don't know if he can hear us, but he's been waking up before we go in to get him. He's just all smiles in the morning. It makes me so happy to see him. What a great way to start the day.

Lisa- I let Max cry it out for nap time, but only for 10 minutes. Anything longer than that and he won't fall asleep. He's been great about going down at night, but we have a pretty set routine.

Connie- We didn't make it on our walk. Big surprise. Don't worry about the check. It was no biggie.

OMG! Charline- I didn't realize the big day was so soon! It will be so strange with out all of you with big kids on the board. Hayden's parties sound like fun. Want to come clean my house next?

Jenn- How horrible about your neice. I'll keep her and your family in my prayers.

Suzi- I'd love to see pics.

Stephanie- Stick around here for a little while and this becomes your hobby!

Jenni- Happy 11 mos to Nicholas.

Dawn- I've heard that if you pull them into you when they bite they will let go. Also, they usually only do that at the end of the session. I'm interested to see what answers you get since Max still doesn't have teeth.

Valerie- Sounds like the shot to me. Try tyenol the next time.

Chris- Sounds rough. Poor kiddos and mommy!

Okay, kids are finishing up. Hugs to all of you.

Thank you to whoever wrote me. I didn't see a name. I have two boys, one is 21/2, and the other is 8 months. The 2 year old won't go poty on his poty chair. I'm having a hard time with that. Maybe one day he'll go on the poty? Do you have any ideas for that? We've tried everything that we can think of. Any ideas would help. The 8 month old is tring to walk. He pulls himself up on things, and has since he was 51/2 months. Still don't walk. My oldest one is mean to the baby. He likes to sit on him or play rough with him. I try to keep him away as much as possible. But I have to clean and do laundry too. I can't always be right there.

Thank You!!!

Connie - A friend of mine was having a long, difficult labor and the doctor didn't know why. Finally they did a c/s and realised that her pelvis was so small and the baby so big that to be delivered vag they would have had to break either his shoulder or her pelvis! A c/s is a GOOD thing!

Yesterday was a terrible day at our house! First Kaleb fell against the side of his crib and hit his head. He had a headache and a rather large goose-egg, but survived better than mommy. I called the dr and the dr said look for certain things and if they didn't happen he'd be fine. Then, We started to give the kids their baths and noticed that Tailer had a huge TICK on her back. How long it had been there I don't know! We pulled and pulled, and poured alcohol and pulled some more and the thing stayed. Her skin would be pulled back 1/2 an inch and the tick wouldn't come out. DH tried, I tried, MIL tried w/ tweezers, FIL tried, Tailer screamed!! We ended up taking her to the ER so they could remove it. An older nurse walked in, said let me see. She grabbed it and in one swift yank pulled it out. It cost me $50, for her to pull it.

On to personals:

Jenni: Was it you doing a Blue's Clues b-day party for Nick? Did you watch the Blue's b-day episode? Salt and Pepper made Blue a paw print cake out of one round and 4 cupcakes with blue icing. If that helps any:)

Stephanie Thurman: Hi there! I too stay home all day every day with two kids. My hobbies are chasing one and hollaring no at the other LOL! Just kidding. I like to Cross stitch but the only problem is I seem to only be able to do it after everyone's sleeping. How old are your two? Mine are 3 1/2 years and 6 1/2 months(girl and boy). I don't get any adult conversations unless I'm here on the board or wait until DH(husband) gets home from work.

Kelley and Claire: Good to hear from you again! Congrats to Claire crawlin' and crusin'.

JennE: My prayers are with you for your niece!!

Charline: I can't believe Hayden's a year in 6 days!! Wow time flies!!! Have fun at the parties!!

Well I gotta run. Kaleb's mad b/c he's in his exersaucer!!!

Hi everyone! It's Barb! Haley is really, really on the verge of cutting some top teeth, so I'd like a visit from the Tooth Fairy please ...

PERSONALS:

VALERIE: Make sure that you don't forefit (Is that how that word is spelled???) your right to collect any maternity leave pay due to you by resigning from your job before returning. Check you state laws!

KELLEY: I was wondering where you were. Sorry about the Internet Police ... grrrr - my last job was like that - good thing I had no clue about the Internet then! Swimming - I hear so many different things, I don't know what's right - but I plan on putting her in a baby pool in our back yard this summer. Check with your Ped. to be sure!

JENN E: Sorry to hear about your niece, she will be in my prayers -- good to hear from you again too

CHARLINE: You will be leaving us soon too :-( ... tell me, is your guest list huge for the 1st B'day??

STEPHANIE: Hobbies are derived more from your own personal interests ... I love to garden and read books - eventually I would like to set a workshop in the basement to refinish & paint custom furniture. Of course, I work full time now, so my activities are limited. I think your new computer will help open up a new world for you!

JENNI: I love the Elmo & Zoie "Fis." I forgot to mention half of the stuff I did last weekend including washing the bathroom window (no easy chore) washing (scrubbing) the bathroom floor on my hands and knees, then washing the basement stairs (they are painted cement.) I have to get to the windows in Haley's room this weekend - OH! and I cleaned her room from top to bottom also (Now that was really not easy, since I normally clean when she is sleeping.)

Well, a whole bunch of work just got dumped on my desk - I'll check in with you guys later.

Hello Mommies & Babies! I went MIA for a couple of days so I could paint our living room. We have 2 walls of paneling which has been driving me crazy for 2 years now. DH had a 50 gallon fish tank on one of the walls so I could never paint them. He got rid of the tank and 1 day later I started painting. Sunday DH took Timmy for the day so I could paint. It was wonderful to have a quiet house so I could get some work done in peace. I finished the walls up yesterday. 4 coats of paint to cover it!!

Yesterday I was nursing the Monster and watching TV. Something made me laugh and I had this long laughing fit. I couldn't stop! Timmy stopped nursing, looked up at me and smiled, then he started laughing too! It was so cute. He must think his mom is looney!:) I think I just need some sleep, either that or my hormones are whacked out.

I read through all the posts but was too lazy to do personals. Please, please forgive me.:)

Oops, I do have one-

Stephanie- I'm a SAHM too and I am constantly doing something to our house. Being home all day and watching HGTV gives me all sorts of ideas!! I've sewn new window treatments for all the rooms in our house and even made some Christmas valances when I found material on sale. How old are your little ones?

BTW, did I tell you guys that Timmy weighed in at 20 lbs when we went to the ped last week? What a big boy!!:)

Hello! I had a bad, bad, bad, bad night with Devi girl. (Lisa, please tell me you had one too with X so that I can blame it on the shot!!) DH and I went clothes shopping for him, adn Devin slept through the entire thing, so we decided to go to Applebee's for Dinner, thinking she may stay asleep. Well, was I wrong!!! She woke up right away, & was ok at first, then like 5 minutes later she started SCREAMING. DH tried feeding her, but she wanted nothing to do with the bottle (She always takes it no problem from him). So I took her into the bathroom & changed her, I tried feeding her, I took her outside & walked aroung with her, she was inconsoleable (sp?) So finally we had our dinners wrapped up- we had barely finished the appitizer, and I only had half of my drink- my first "big girl drink" since I got pg with her!!! Well, our dinners are all wrapped up, we go outside & put her in her car seat and she's out like a light before we even got to the car!!!! She stayed asleep til we finished eating @ home!! I didn't get her asleep for the night until 1:30. I was seeing double & pulling my hair out. I was considering trying to put Devin back where she came from, but decided that would be more trouble than it's worth! Then she woke up last night at 4:30, 5:30 & 6:30!! I just fed her & she's still WIDE AWAKE. I hope she falls asleep at some point, cause I could really use a nap today!!

Suzi: I'de love to see Jacob's pictures

Stephanie: What do you like to do? Maybe some kind of craft, like making a scrap book with your kids or something like that.

Hello. I Have a six month old son named Austin. He eats cereals and baby food but mainly breastfeeds. A month ago his two bottom teeth came in (which looks really cute) and the others have been giving some pain. My problem is he keeps biting down on me when nursing. He has really strong jaws and bites hard. I've been thinking about weaning him but he hates the taste of formula. He will take a bottle or cup if there is juice in it. Does anyone have any suggestions about either the biting or weaning?

Good Morning Mommies and babies!!! Well, the count down has begun. Nicholas is 11 months old today :0) & :0( He is growing up faster and faster everyday.

DH and I took him out last night to get him a little treat, we ended up coming home with two goldfish (Elmo & Zoie) - my little boy has his first pet! He adores them and cruises over to their bowl to see what they are doing and goes "fis, fis fis!" Too cute.

Stephanie - Hi and welcome. How old are your kids? Hobbies...lets see, I try to crochet and scrape book but most of my time is spent cleaning and taking care of Nicholas.

Valerie - What a great check up Devin! Good luck with the possibility of the other job. It sounds good.

Suzi - Happy 11 months Jacob! Your walker toy sounds really cool. Send pics please.

Kelley - I think its like 6-8 months for the pool. If its a public pool I don't think they allow diapered babies in the adult pool though.

Jenn - My prayers are with your family and little Emily.

Charline - OMG! I didn't realize Hayden is soooo close to turning 1. The party's sound great. How are you holding up?

Sarah - Hey Girl...escaping again? How are you? And how is Nick's long distance "honey"? Any recent pics??? "See ya" in a month!

Connie - I use to post on May 99 list. Nick was born on May 4th. I'll be heading over to TT in a month, I'll save you a place :0)

Layne - Prozac in the candy dish sounds like a good idea! So, what did DS say???

Barb - Wow, you did get a lot done this weekend. Want to come over and help here? Yup, Nick was 3 months old when you joined us. Time really does fly. Too bad it didn't when we were pg huh?

Jenn & Liz - Good luck with the milk! Nick still isn't too crazy about it, but he is taking about 4-6 ounces a day now.

I guess that's it for now, I need to go bake a cake for DH's b'day - he 36 today, and he thinks I forgot it! Silly man, won't he be suprised when he gets home tonight. Hello to anyone I missed and big hugs to those babies.

I was just wondering what you do at home all day when you get bored?
I have two kids and I stay at home every day all day. I clean and take care of my kids, but I feel like I need a hobbie. I really can't think of anything to do as a hobbie. So I thought maybe someone could help me out.I don't know my email yet, but maybe if anyone has any ideas they could write to this web site. Then I could just come back to this site. Someone please write back.

THANK YOU! Stephanie Thurman

Hello! We just got back from Devi girl's Dr. appt. alittle while ago. She's been SOOOOO fussy lately. She complained from the minute we walked into the office til we got in the car to go home!! I think gas is becoming a problem for here. I can feel & hear all the bubbles in her stomach, but she can't seem to let it out. Funny, but this seems to have started when I stopped eating broccoli b/c I thought she was too gassy- maybe I should start again!! Anyway, DR said to give her Mylacon drops and see if it helps. Devin weighs 11 pounds, 1 ounce, and is 23 inches long. She's in the 90th percentile! She gained just shy of three pounds since her 2 week visit! The DR said not to worry about the spitting up b/c she gaining & growing so well. She cried when she got her shot, but it really wasn't more than she was already crying!! She was fed, she ws clean, and she was being cuddled, so I really can't think of what it could be- other than gas. Poor baby :-( The DR I like was on vaca, so I got this guy who acts really disinterested... I have to make sure I get the lady I like next time.

I spoke with one of my co-workers to leave a message for my supervisor about me being out for 12 weeks (I called when I knew she wasn't working- I'm a coward!!) and she said things are getting really bad with my supervisor. We have a really small department, It's me, my supervisor and two others. The one I was talking to said that she's really close to looking for
