Calm a Crying Baby
Expert Q&A
Question:
I would like to bake some teething biscuits for my 10-month-old daughter, however recipes I am finding all contain honey. It is OK to give her honey, and do you have a recipe that doesn't include honey or eggs?
Answer:

We usually say that by the age of 1 year, children are ready for honey. Before that, we recommend against it. The reason is that honey may carry botulism spores, which could make a baby sick. Babies over a year have immune systems that are better able to handle honey. So for little ones, we avoid adding honey, products with honey, etc. Even if a product made with honey is cooked, that may not destroy the spores.

We have several recipes that do not contain eggs or honey. You can check them out in the article Baby's First Cookie: Making Homemade Teething Biscuits.
