My 9-month-old will only eat adult food. Could you give me some tips on nutritious meals for her?
It sounds like you are on the right track! Some babies are ready for "table foods" at 9 or 10 months. Two things to keep in mind for these young eaters:
- Make sure "adult foods" and finger foods will not be choking hazards for her. Cook veggies until very soft, finely dice quesadillas and meats, and serve tiny bits of ripe fruit, etc. And keep a close eye on her while she eats.
- She still needs plenty of breastmilk or formula, so be sure she is getting that in addition to other foods.
Some other finger food ideas for older babies:
- Grains: whole grain crackers, tiny pasta shapes like orzo, oatmeal.
- Veggies: finely diced avocado, vegetable soup (diced).
- Fruits: baked apple (diced or mashed), small bits of soft melon or papaya or banana.
- Protein foods: diced tofu, hummus, cooked ground meats.
- Dairy foods (in addition to breastmilk or formula): grated cheddar or mozzarella cheese, whole milk yogurt.
