I was wondering if this sounds like a problem. My friend's 9-month-old baby does not crawl. When laid down she just screams. Also, she does not roll over on her own either way. But she does sit up by herself. Is this normal?
It is not unusual for infants not to crawl; some infants walk without ever crawling. It is unusual for an infant to be able to sit by themselves without turning over. Almost all children will roll over by 6 months of age, and most will not sit unsupported until that time. I would recommend evaluation by a physician to insure the infant is reaching other milestones appropriately, and to explore the possibility of some muscular problems.
