Expert Q&A
At what age do infants start teething? My baby is 4 1/2 months old and it appears that he may be teething. What are the signs that he could be?
Your son would be in the early group, but we normally see teething begin anywhere between 4 to 12 months of age. You can use family history as a guideline. If the parents teethed early, there is a good chance that their children will be early teethers, too. While some children don't show many apparent signs of teething, the most common signs are more than usual fussiness at night, excess drooling and even hands that are constantly flapping at his ears.
