Expert Q&A
Can I introduce a pillow to my 2-year-old?
The right time to introduce a pillow is when you both feel comfortable with it. At 2, she is probably ready. If you decide to try a pillow, you may want to start with a smaller than normal, firm pillow. When you shop around, you will see certain "airline" size children's pillows. They are a good way to start. To gain a comfort level on your part, you can introduce a pillow for naptime and watch her. Once you have seen her sleeping with a pillow, your worries will fade. If you have concerns about introducing a pillow, don't be afraid to talk it over with your pediatrician on your next scheduled visit.
