Calm a Crying Baby
Expert Q&A
Question:
My child is 13 months old and is still not walking. I am very concerned since she has been able to walk with our help since she was 7 months old. Should I be worried?
Answer:
Before you worry about a late walker, consider the rest of her development. Has she been on normal timetables with the other stages of development? Was she sitting on time, crawling on time? Consider all these factors. Another thing to consider is her body style. If your baby has a long trunk or is heavier than average, it can sometimes take a little extra time for walking. Besides, many babies find that they can crawl four times faster than walk, so they continue to do just that for longer than usual. I would give it another month or two and then if she still hasn?t made a move towards walking, discuss it with your family doctor."
