Expert Q&A
Question:
What's the best way to give infants medicine? I'm having a hard time with my 3-month-old.
Answer:
The best method I've found both with my own kids and those I see at the pharmacy is to use an oral dosing syringe or a dropper and to squirt small amounts into the side of the cheek. If you squirt too much in at once or squirt it into the center of the mouth, it is easier to spit out.

You can kind of trick babies into swallowing by squirting a small amount of the medication into the side of his or her cheek, then quickly giving them a pacifier or thumb to suck. Repeat this a few times and you're done.
