Calm a Crying Baby
Expert Q&A
Question:
Can I give my children water with liquid cough and cold medicine? They won't take it without pausing to drink water between sips of medicine. I worry that this will dilute the medicine.
Answer:

Sips of water won't dilute oral medication. Remember, if you give the medication before or after a meal, it likely will be diluted in the stomach with the meal contents. The key is making sure that the child receives the entire dose of medication.
