Introduction

11 months 3 weeks

Colin will be 1 year old in just one week. It is so hard for me to believe this. It seems as if I just brought him home from the hospital. The last year has been a wonderful one for the whole family. Watching Colin grow from a wee newborn into the manly man he is today.

Colin is not walking yet but he is a mean cruiser and a very rapid crawler. He can also climb up the stairs very quickly. This means there are even more baby gates in our house then before. Colin has 6 teeth and is eating all table food. He likes a wide variety of foods but is not a big eater. "Just give me a tablespoon of each item on the menu please" He drinks very well from a sippy cup but still loves his bottle. I forsee a bit of trouble in the future concerning this! Colin is also quite a talker. In fact (like his brothers) he is never quiet unless he is asleep. Our house is very noisy!! He can say bye-bye, mama, dada, Elmo (sort of) and ba-ba (bottle). I think he said hi the other day too. He is very good a playing by himself too. I find this to be an excellent trait in a child!!

Colin's temper seems to have toned down a bit for the momement and once I put him back on 4 bottles a day he resumed sleeping through the night (thank God!!). The one thing that still makes him furious is naps. He needs them but he does not like to be put down for one. I am sure that he thinks he is missing out on all the fun.

He likes putting everything he comes across into his mouth. Just today I extracted a dead moth from there - -YUCK! We try to be very careful with little things and I scan the floor constantly but with 2 other small boys in the house it is a constant battle. He also knows just where the crumbs accumulate and after a meal he heads straight for his high chair pulls himself up and starts eating the crumbs. Now, if I were to put this same food on his tray while he was in his chair he would not eat it but if it is on the foot rest or seat of his chair why, it is just delicous!

Plans for Colin's birthday party are coming right along. It will be a pretty big party with about 35 people I think. We have requested no gifts since our house is already jammed full of baby toys. I found adorable invitations for a baby Halloween party and was very pleased with how cute they turned out. We are having a costume party and Colin will be dressed as Pooh. Basically because that is the costume I have in his size. We went out yesterday and bought all the party supplies. I need to order the cake and figure out the food and I will be all set.

All is well with the rest of the family. Not much to report there. The big boys are enjoying school and I am enjoying my tuesday and thursday mornings alone with Colin.

I will report back after the big party. Oh how can my baby be one?!!! Soon there will be no more baby and we will have a toddler running around with his brothers.
