Just when you think…
You know…I really wonder when and if things will ever get situated. There is always something that causes waves and disturbs our plans. We got a letter a couple weeks ago from the wonderful IRS (thought it would be inappropriate to use a curse word). They said we owed them over $1400 for taxes that were not taken out properly from some stocks we cashed in in 2001!! Not only do we owe them the $1400 we now have to pay an additional $200 for the interest!! Why bother having a “professional” do your taxes when this crap happens? I could have done it myself and had no one to blame but me. We are like most people and don’t just have that kind of money sitting around. I can honestly say that we have $30 in our checking account until payday. All the bills are paid and we have food so we don’t NEED anything now. It just seemed that with the last month or so things have really turned around. Jim’s paychecks were better, the mortgage money was less so more money for other bills and we were getting caught up. Now this! When will it end?
Enough of that…
AF arrived last week. I didn’t ovulate until day 21 so we did not plan our activities correctly. LOL…My October cycle was 29 days and this month it was 34. HHMMM?? So, I guess I am on CD #6, C #3. If I ovulate when I think I MIGHT this month it will be during the time we are away for Christmas. Not sure that is going to work out so well since we will be doing a lot of flying and driving. Guess we will wait and see.
My Growing Boy…
Ian got his first real fever on the 9th. I felt his head and he seemed a bit too warm for me. I had Jim give me his opinion and he didn’t think he felt hot at all. Not liking his response I headed to the bathroom to get the thermometer. I took Ian’s temp and it was 102.4. (I think??) I gave him some Tylenol and put him to bed. He slept well that night but woke around 5:15AM and was very unhappy. When I took this temp then it was almost 104 degrees. That freaked me out a little since he had never had a temp that high. We undressed him and gave him some more Tylenol and did cool compresses and got him some water to keep him hydrated. He went back to sleep in my arms and we slept until almost 9AM. After waking I took his temp again and it was down to 99.2. Much better. He still ate and laughed and played and did all the normal stuff he usually does. Except there was an extra bit of whine in his cries. Wednesday was about the same with the temps going up and then down. He napped a lot and sat on my lap and wanted to be held. I got a call from my friend whose house we were at on Sunday. Apparently her daughter had just been diagnosed with the flu!! YIKES!! We were just there and Ian was chewing on the toys and the kids loved on him. I called the pediatrician nurse and asked what I should do and she said that we should just keep and eye on him and that if his temp stays high (over 103.0) for 3 days to call them. She told me that Ian was not a “candidate” for the flu shot since he stays at home with me. So, this cold compounded with the fact that he is getting a molar has made for a very interesting week. His nose is runny, he is sneezing and coughing but he is sleeping thru the night (most of the time!) and seems to be his old self. Unfortunately I woke up Monday with a sore throat and I took a sinus/cold pill and I walked around all day in a fog. It’s now Friday and he has a little cough and a runny nose but it’s clear. The tooth is not coming in as quickly as I’d hoped it would. Still giving him fits.
Other Ian Stuff…
I can’t even begin to tell you how this kid drives me insane. Where do I start?? We are now afraid of the vacuum. Not sure when this happened but I can’t clean the carpet until Jim is home on the weekends or home from work and can take Ian away from the area. He becomes absolutely hysterical if I turn it on. I really have no idea why or when this started. He can now climb into his high chair and stands up in it. So I now have to make sure the tray is on it at all times. The kitchen chairs have been moved into the formal dining room so he can’t climb up on the kitchen counter. Made that mistake the other day when I went upstairs to take some books to his room and came back down and he was standing on the chair with a french fry box from Wendy’s in his hands. He was just munching away on Uncle Matt’s stuff. It was too funny!
We haven’t really done much the past couple weeks since he’s been sick. We did leave the house on Thursday and that was just to Target for more diapers. Today we went to the mall and we were going to have pictures taken with Santa but he was SO overtired that we just left. And we had him all dressed up in his little reindeer outfit! Oh well…another year I guess.
We are going to be heading out for our trip next week. I’m so excited to go and see my family. We’ve got the cabin in the mountains all reserved and the meals for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are all planned. It’s going to be wonderful having my mom and dad watch Ian while Jim and I sit in the hot tub. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I’m looking forward to that!! LOL I’m guessing that I will ovulate sometime during the trip and I’m not sure we really want to get all “romantic” at my parents house!! I guess we will see what happens!
I want to wish all of you a wonderful holiday season! So, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Feliz Navidad! Have a great time and a Happy and SAFE New Year! God Bless you all and your families!
