Melissa's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
January 2, 2001
Oh my goodness, I'm going to get my diary kicked off of BabiesToday for disappearing for a few weeks. Sorry! My life has been soooo busy lately. We are building a house (which is almost done -- we'll be moving in a few weeks) and with the holidays and Chuck's new job time has been flying by.
Anyway, Jack sure is growing! He is getting around now doing what I call the "army" crawl. He scoots everywhere on his belly. He even ventures into other rooms where no one is. He can almost sit up by himself from crawling position. It's so fun to watch him turn into this little boy. Oh, I love this stage. I've been having a bit of trouble with him while I've been working out at our house. He doesn't like to sit in his playpen or saucer while I work. Even when I was right there with him in the same room he was fussy about it. The carpet is going down today, so now he'll be able to crawl all over. I think he just doesn't like to be confined. After all, he has things to see and do!
He is also really becoming interested in eating what we are eating. Last night I gave him a few pieces of Hattie's grilled cheese sandwich. He loved it!!! He still will eat baby food, but is starting to get picky. He really likes fruits and only a few veggies. Sounds like his dad and me!
We had a nice Christmas. Jack started to crawl a few days before Christmas and really liked to check out the tree and play with the bows on things. He got quite a few toys and some clothes. He preferred the paper and boxes to everything though, just like any kid.
On New Year's Eve, we all went to bed about 9:30 p.m.! What a bunch of party poopers! :) We all had been at the new house all day and were just beat, so there was no sense in torturing us!
By the way, I didn't end up painting Jack's room red after all. My mom and I did paint it, but there was something wrong with the paint so I ended up painting it light blue (which I also used in part of Hattie's room). I liked the red, but once it was on all the walls it reminded me of a pizza parlor -- very scary for a baby's room! I would feel sorry for him if he had to wake up to that bright room everyday.
I think that is all for now. Again, I'm sorry for neglecting my dairy for the past few weeks, but I truly have been very busy. Things will definitely be slowing down in a few weeks, which will be a welcome relief to all of us! Hope everyone is having a Happy New Year.
Melissa :)
