Michael - 27 Months
Madison - 34 Weeks

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
I wanted to get in a quick entry before the Christmas holiday because I know that this will be a busy week. Besides it being Christmas, it will be our 5-year wedding anniversary on the 28th, and my Husband's 30th birthday on New Year's Day so I will have plenty to write about in the next entry.

The kids (and my husband) are pretty much over their colds now. They all have a lingering runny nose & cough but they are back to their wild & crazy ways. Maddie is still sleeping poorly, even with the Pack-N-Play next to our bed. She constantly wakes up and wants to be rocked, held, or lying next to me. After I let her lie next to me (in extreme situations in which I can barely open my eyes from being so tired!) I will gently lift her and place her back into the portable bed. Sometimes she will stay asleep for another couple of hours or sometimes I will have to repeat the process. It is hard. She is still very close to crawling. She now lifts her rear off the ground and she is teetering back 'n forth. Maybe she will crawl on Christmas day!

I am not entirely sure if it is due to his recent illness or to the "terrible-two's" but Michael has become extra-ornery & stubborn this last week. He has been having more temper tantrums than usual. He also takes toys away from Madison and wants to be held regardless if I am holding her or not. He is just in the "Me, Me" stage, I guess. Hopefully if we continue to teach him to share and we ride through his tantrums, they will subside. This happened in the past when Michael was nearing the age of two and he grew out of it so I don't rule that happening out now. It is just frustrating as heck! Some cute things he does: when we mess up and say "goshdangit" (the other version) he will tell us, "don't say that - it's a bad word." He also loves to hug us lately and tell us that he loves us. Too cute.

Through Mom's Club, I learned about a focus group for Michael at a local toy company called Nuerosmith. They make pretty cool yet pricey toys like Musini, Music blocks Maestro, and the Jumbo Music Block. They called him in on Friday and we went into a room with two-way mirrors and Michael was given two toys to play with. They were young toys and since he wasn't really interested in them, the moderator came in and asked me questions about them. It only took 10 minutes at most and then Michael got to pick out a toy to take home as his "payment". He picked the Maestro music blocks which retails at around $70!! I am going to wrap it and put it under the tree. Boy, I wouldn't mind doing focus groups like this often!

Two years ago for Christmas, Bill bought me a spa gift certificate and only this weekend did I finally use it. I really needed a massage after taking care of two sick kids and a sick husband! I went to the Spa at South Coast Plaza and had a massage at 10 AM. I went early and showered and used the jacuzzi & steam room. It was heavenly. I enjoy the entire spa experience from the music of Enya to the smells of eucalyptus drifting through the spa. Just pure heaven. It was a dreamy morning, thank you Bill!

After I got home from the spa, we had lunch and then took the kids to the Marketplace to see Santa. It was a little rainy so there wasn't any line to see him. We took our own camera too. Michael did very well but Madison cried yet again when placed in Santa's arms. I hope my pictures turn out well. The Polaroid's they took are a bit dark because it was rainy.

After visiting Santa and then short naps for the kids, we bundled them up and went to our friend's house in Naples for a boat parade. They live in a house on the canals with a boat dock so it was the ideal place to view the parade. We only knew the hosts so it was a bit weird at first though Michael had fun with his little friend & the other children. The boats were all decorated with lights and the residents threw candy onto the docks and Santa even went by on a boat-sled pulled by pretend dolphins. We left early because Michael was starting to get cranky and throw tantrums. Lovely little guy…he was tired though.

On Sunday, we dropped the kids off with Bill's parents and we saw the movie, Lord of The Rings, The Two Towers. Oh My Gosh! What a fantastic movie!!!! It has replaced Star Wars as the best epic (in my opinion) and I even place it above Titanic (my all-time fave movie) as the best movie(s) I have ever seen! It was violent but for those of you who abhor violent movies - please give this one a try. It is just fabulous and the characters, costumes, music, & scenery is over the top. Indescribable and so breathtaking! I give it two thumbs & two big toes up!! What a great weekend!

Quick physical update on the kids: Madison is wearing size 3 diapers but I will change her to size 4's once I finish with the ones we have, she wears size 9 month clothes and a size 2 shoe. She has her lower left front tooth coming in and still has very little hair. Her hair color is dark brown and her eye's are hazel. Michael is wearing size 5 diapers and size 2T clothes. He wears a size 7 shoe. His thick hair is light brown with blonde hairs next to his temples and he has very blue eyes. Well, that is all I will write about now. I still have the presents to wrap and I have to find them all. I have gifts hidden all over the house! Have a Merry Christmas! May God Bless you & yours this Blessed week!
