Hi everyone! Long time no *see*! Jeremiah has been quite the busy young man lately! Fasten your seatbelts and get ready for the ride!
My little Milkman is now officially a toddler! That's right, Jeremiah turned the Big One yesterday, and he celebrated by doing exactly that. He is now a Genuine Walkman; no more of that tentative stuff for him. Full speed ahead, and if you're in his way you might just get mowed down! Talk about *overnight* developments...Imagine my surprise when he made a beeline towards me across the room, and propelled himself into my proud outstretched arms! I guess my days of rest and relaxation (huh???) are over...sigh...If he's anything like his sister, I figure that I won't be sitting down for the next two years at least LOL!
I have to tell you about this toy I picked up for Jeremiah- it's the "Triple Ride Rocker" by Fisher-Price, and as you can tell by the name, three kids can ride and rock on it, which is great if you have more than one child or if they have friends over, or it's fun as a solo ride too. (And no, alas I didn't get any big $$ for this plug!) I had considered getting a rocking horse but for $19.99, such a deal.
Speaking of toys, Jeremiah's had the most fun making up his own games while the shiny electronic toys sit lonely in the playard. I have this old Mickey Mouse stool, and Jeremiah just loves to turn it upside down and stack toys on the upturned legs! The laundry basket is a favorite for a quick ride about *town*, and an empty box is a great makeshift tent. Ah, the imagination and creativity of the young...why do we lose so much of that, I wonder...? Can't we bottle it up and replenish ourselves when needed?
My house is abuzz with the excitement of preparing for an onslaught of guests tomorrow for Jeremiah's birthday bash. I won der if I am suffering from "second child syndrome"- what I mean is, am I shortchanging Jeremiah somehow when I don't want to have all the big celebrations that Rebecca had each year. I would have been happy with just the immediate family (which is close to 30 people right there) and a very few friends, but since this is Matt's first child, how could I deny him the pleasure of a bang-up celebration? Our bakery throws in the "first birthday" little cake for free, so I informed Matt that it was his job to hose off Jeremiah after he finishes "exploring" his treat!
Oh, I have an update on the Gerber Graduates "lab experiment" foods! I finally gave in to the pressure and bought some of the turkey and chicken sticks (the Meat Sticks ingredients just looked too gross), and wouldn't you know it that Jeremiah couldn't eat them fast enough! It astounds me how his appetite has increased the last two weeks. I think he eats more than Rebecca does, seriously! I got some great ideas for new foods from the January board:-)
Anyhow, that's it for now from the Walkman Now I Get to Make Mommy Run Rockin' and Ridin' No Endorsement Makin' Up My Own Games (hey it's cheaper that way, right?) Getting Ready to Destroy his Cake and Anything in his Way Graduating to Gerber In Spite of what Monny Thinks!
love, Rena
P.S. I think I'll be wrapping up Jeremiah's baby diary next week with a recap of our madcap whirlwind astounding exciting first year, so be sure to stay tuned!!!
