Introduction
Hooray, Hooray!!! Nathan turns 1 year old today. We can't believe our little baby isn't such a little baby anymore. Last Friday he got his first haircut. It went extremely well...no crying, fussing or squirming. In fact, he was looking at us like we were nuts for making such a fuss about him. Then, on Saturday was the big birthday bash and it was a huge success. There were lots of other little kids there, so that made it even more fun. There's nothing quite like a roomful of running, giggling, playful children to bring out the child in you.
Of course we took lots of pictures and video of the event. He seemed to enjoy his cake...although he didn't get quite as messy with it as we thought he would. And he is enjoying his presents (now that I've thrown away the empty boxes that he just wouldn't let go of).
Now that the birthday festivities are behind us, we can give our 100 percent attention to Christmas. There are gifts yet to buy, a tree to finish decorating, and a few holiday parties to choose from....not to mention the fact that we still have Christmas cards to get out. Oh well, every year it seems like there's too much to do, yet we always seem to manage to get it all done. I expect no less from us this year. At least this year I can help Richie do the shopping. Last year at this time I had just given birth and was in no condition to fight the holiday crowds. But Rich was quite the trooper and dutifully went out on many nights with my lists in hand. Although he often come back looking quite harried, he never complained much.
As this year comes to a close, we often reflect on what a thrilling, enjoyable, scary year its been with Nathan. I suppose there were some bad times in there, but there were so many great times the bad times easily fade from memory. We are both excited about the coming millennium and what it holds for our family. We look forward to many great years with Nathan and his future siblings (but that's a whole other chapter!).
Take care all...and look for the continuing tales of Nathan on Toddlers Today!
Thanx, from Rich, Debbie and Nathan
