Introduction

Kyle stood on his own for the first time right on Thanksgiving Day. He pulled himself up by grabbing the edge of the sofa, and stood like that for a minute before falling back on his butt. Randy and I cheered him on and he seemed very pleased with himself. Now he is pulling himself up all the time and we're guessing that he will be taking his first steps really soon. He also started clapping his hands today. We tried to get him to do this before by clapping our hands in front of him, but he is just now imitating us. He is learning things so quickly now. Sometimes, I just look at him and realize that I better enjoy this time now because before I know it, he will be all grown and go out on his own. At these moments, I just pick him up in my arms and hug him tight. He is such a blessing ...

We had a nice Thanksgiving this year with just the three of us. I made us a nice brown sugared ham because Randy doesn't care much for turkey. I did make stuffing though because that's one of my favorite side dishes. Kyle is still eating pureed baby foods but I've started giving him finger foods like Cheerios. He's finally got the chewing motion down. It's no wonder because his two top teeth are coming out. I feel so bad for him because it's obvious that it hurts him. He's no longer sleeping through the night like he had been doing, but wakes up at least two times. I can't wait until things get back to normal.

My pregnancy is going along fine. I haven't really gained any weight yet and still don't appear pregnant which I find a little strange. I always heard that when you are pregnant the second time around, you show faster. I started showing when I was pregnant with Kyle at about 14 weeks. I am now almost 18 weeks, almost to the halfway point. I just pulled out my maternity clothes from storage, but probably won't start wearing them for another week or so.

I got my results back from the Triple Screen test and that was normal. Very good news. Hopefully, this pregnancy will be uneventful and I carry to term. I would not like to go through what happened with Kyle again. Having a premature baby is stressful in every sense. I'm planning to take it easy during my last trimester. Looking back on my last pregnancy, I probably did too much toward the end.

So that's what has been happening this week. My next prenatal appointment is on Dec. 13, and I am really looking forward to my ultrasound on the 21st. That's when we will find out if I am carrying a girl or boy. I'll be sure to let you all know. In the meantime, take care everyone.

Until next week ...
Sharlene
