A Question for all mom's out there?

July 16, 2006

Well I'm on bedrest and the kids are staying with their grandparents in Springfield so I figured I would write an entry or two. Well here is the thing, our good friends have a nine month old named MacKayla that is having some trouble sleeping. Hopefully some moms that are reading this will be able to help her with this situation. I have thought and given advice and even after having two kids I'm stumped. Here's the problem, Mackayla goes to bed around 8:00 each night. She is only sleeping for 8-9 hours and then is up stirring around 4:30ish. (Yes that is in the morning) Needless to say her mommy and daddy aren't getting as much sleep as they need to be. They usually give a pacifier to hold her off until maybe 6:00. This is buying them some time but she is still getting up each morning earlier and earlier. She takes two naps a day that are around 1 1/2 to 2 hours each. So what seems to be the problem here? I told them to put pacifiers in her crib and allow her to grab her own source of comfort but I don't think that is working either. My kids at that age slept for 11-12 hours at night and two naps a day. They have tried extending her bedtime and that didn't work either. She is still thinking her day is starting before the sun is getting up. Any suggestions for them? Anyone had situations similar and something worked? She does go down at night for them without crying and is a perfect angel. She just has a tendency to wake up very early and think the day has begun. Thanks for any advice anyone can give me. Just reply to my Talk To Me Board. Anyhow, the kids are doing well. Kaitlyn's potty training isn't going at all I guess. Grandpa and Grandma aren't on that plan so we will pick up where we left off when she gets back. She still isn't eating anything of substance either. When I talked to her on the phone, I got the message "Hi Mamma, Bye Bye!" That was pretty much it. Can't wait to see them again and be off bedrest. God Bless, Bridget, Dylan, Kaitlyn, & Baby 3 on the way
