Siblings Not Telling

Short Stories About Parenting

I am the mother of a 3 1/2-year-old son and a 10-month-old daughter. The other day I was not in the same room as my kids when I heard my daughter crying. I went in to see what my son had done to her. I knew he had done something. He is pretty rough to his little sister. He loves her dearly, but plays rough with her.

My daughter was still crying when I got in to her. I asked Austin what he had done to her. He looked at me with a grin on his face and said, "Abby cannot talk and I am not telling!"

At that moment I knew that I had been outsmarted by a 3-year-old. He knew that Abby was not able to tell on him. Abby quit crying as soon as I picked her up, but I still to this day have no idea what Austin did to her.
