Hug, Kiss and a Few Words Can Make Your Day!

Short Stories About Parenting

Hello everyone! I'm Autumn. When Kaylee was 25 months old, my grandmother, who I was very close to, passed away with cancer. It was 10:30 p.m., and Kaylee had gone to bed. I just sat down on the couch and cried and cried by myself. Then Kaylee came out, without me hearing her, and she had no clue what had happened to her great-grandmother, and of course had no clue why I was crying. But that didn't matter to her. She came over, gave me a hug, kissed me and said, "It's OK, Mummy. Everything will be OK." I looked down at her and grieved because if it weren't for those few words my 2-year-old daughter said, I don't know how I could have gotten through it.

Kaylee is now 13 years old, and it seems like yesterday that it happened. I'm so thankful for all my kids, and I'd like to thank them all, especially Kaylee, for helping me get through the loss of my grandmother.
