I was 22 when my second son, Hunter, was born. I had a normal pregnancy. It was a day before my due date and Hunter arrived at the speed of lightning. I started to have my first pains at 6:15 p.m. and Hunter was born at 8:04 p.m.
After the second night of having him home he started screaming all night. It would start at about 10 p.m. and go all the way through until about 5 a.m. I was getting no sleep at all – or very little. I had a 3-year-old to get up to and he's a very early riser. For seven weeks I kept taking him to the local child health nurse and she kept telling me that his body clock was turned around and that he would eventually turn himself around. But after seven weeks of no sleep I got her to refer me on to the Riverton Centre in Brisbane, and within two nights of us being there they had him diagnosed as having reflux. I was so relieved that it wasn't just me going out of my mind. It finally bought us peace of mind – and very peaceful nights – after that.
