Designing Your Nursery
Decorating Secrets Revealed!
By Belinda Clarke

Pope offers bedding and blankets in fabrics and prints that are unavailable anywhere else. In partnership with Bebe Blankets, LLC, producer of Bonbonbini blankets (www.bebeblankets.com), Pope sells customized bumpers made of 100 percent Pima cotton in one-of-a-kind patterns and prints. As for custom sheets? "Skip it," says Pope. "Invest in bumpers and maybe a crib skirt that you love, and then buy the sheets at Target or Babies R Us."
"The best way to save money on a nursery is to understand what your needs are," Pope explains. "You really need a changing table and a chest of drawers? Do you currently own furniture that could be repainted and used in the nursery? Also, it helps to think long term. If you were redoing a master bedroom, you would never buy furniture to last only three years. You would want something to last at least 10 years."
Another thing to remember is that a second or third baby doesn't mean new everything, assuming the babies are more than 24 months apart, Pope says. "You can always interchange bumpers with a new skirt or re-paint to create a new look," she says. "Paint is the great equalizer. Re-wallpapering takes a lot more work!"
