Designing Your Nursery
Decorating Secrets Revealed!
By Belinda Clarke
"I tend to start with color. The most fun nurseries are ones that incorporate strong colors like orange, green and red," she says. "Or interesting combinations like baby blue walls with cherry red stripes. The 'theme' should really come out with accessories – like framed prints on the wall or vintage toys on a shelf – as you want to be able to adapt the room to the child's toddler years without a lot of effort."
The Red Balloon Company offers everything from children's clothing to custom bedding to one-of-a-kind toy chests.
"We make all kinds of furniture, but I love our decoupage toy chests," Pope explains. "Our Noah's ark toy chest has been very popular. We make our chests to fit in 'adult' environments. Most kids don't play in their rooms until they are older, so the toy chests need to look good in a family or living room. We made a custom toy chest for a customer with bug pictures all over it that looked sophisticated and whimsical at the same time."
