Stress and the Single Mom
Ways to Relieve Your Tension
By Jennifer Lacey
Consider making an appointment at a local day spa or salon. Most spas offer specific massages, therapies and
facials that are geared specifically to treating the effects of stress on your body and skin. Specialty spas such as Elizabeth Arden offer "elemental balancing massage and signature facial and massage services developed to provide a sense of restoration and relaxation for stress," says Elaine Sauer, Elizabeth Arden's national spa director. "Facials greatly reduce the stress that ages us."
If a day at the spa just does not fit into your budget or comfort zone, yet you still desire to give your spirits a lift, why not bring the spa experience to the privacy of your own home? Sauer recommends that moms should really recognize the importance of taking time for themselves. "Having rituals at home to re-create a spa experience is vital to maintain a sense of sanity," she says.
Sauer offers her own special prescription to setting the mood to help ease your body and spirits: "Brew some tea, light a candle, draw a bath – adding Epsom salts and then about five drops of lavender before getting into the water – soft music, close the door so there are no interruptions," and just relax, she says.
