A Safe Ride
Car Seats are Serious Business
"Safety is our No. 1 concern," says Sandra Iglesias of United Automobile Insurance Group. "That is why we extend an invitation to Ms. Spears to come to our seat check station and learn how to properly protect her child."
The next date for the Child Safety Seat Check is on Wednesday, May 31, at the Miami Children's Hospital Employee Parking Lot, 3100 SW 62nd Avenue in Miami. Inspections will be conducted by appointment only from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The last scheduled appointment is at 2:30 p.m. To assure a spot, please call 305-663.6800.
Not in Miami? Many hospitals and baby stores offer child seat safety checks. Call for details.
If your baby's car seat is strapped in with a lap/shoulder seatbelt that is one continuous loop (makes a triangle when clipped into the belt lock), you need to always use an additional metal locking clip to help hold the seat in place. Without this 2x3-inch metal "clip" locking the car's seatbelt tightly in position, the lap portion of the seatbelt could loosen, and in an accident, your child – still in the car seat – could be severely injured. Fortunately, a locking clip is inexpensive and easy to use.
