Brain Builders
Stimulating Activities for Your 3-month-old Baby
By Tammy Morey
These are Baby's fingers.
These are Baby's toes.
This is Baby's belly button,
Round and round it goes.
These are Baby's eyes.
This is Baby's nose.
This is Baby's belly button, right where Mommy blows.
Place Baby on the floor on her back. Kneel down and leaning over her, gently touch her fingers and then her toes. As you are saying the third verse, with your finger, make a circular motion on her stomach around her belly button. Then, using your finger, touch the outer edge of her eye and then her nose. For the last verse, lean down and with your mouth, blow a raspberry on her belly button.
Brain-building skills: anticipation and excitement, body awareness, tactile stimulation and listening.
Mending shoes for little feet;
With a bang and a bang
And a bang, bang, bang;
With a bang and a bang
And a bang, bang, bang.
Mending shoes the whole day long,
Mending shoes to make them strong;
With a bang and a bang
And a bang, bang, bang;
With a bang and a bang
And a bang, bang, bang.
Lay Baby on her back, and guide her legs up in the air. Place a ball on Baby's feet and try to keep the ball in the air while she kicks her legs. As you say "bang," tap on the bottom of her feet. Continue to turn the ball as she kicks her feet and try to keep the ball in the air as it spins. Repeat the rhyme, and each time you say "bang," gently drop the ball on her legs from a short distance to try to encourage her to kick the ball. Make sure to praise her if she is successful.
Brain-building skills: cause and effect, muscle strength and coordination, and gross motor development
Muscles exercised: calves, thighs, hamstrings, hips and lower back
Exercise performed: leg kicks

Thank you for all the good info. I have a 3-month-old little boy and he is my first child. I learned a lot, and thank you for that!
