Brain Builders
Stimulating Activities for Your 3-month-old Baby
By Tammy Morey
For the third and fourth lines, bounce your knees up a little higher and pause at the top of the movement. For the fifth and sixth lines, lift Baby up and lower her down on the word "jump." For the last two lines, tilt Baby from side to side.
*The key to bouncing is remembering to be gentle. Baby's brain is like an egg in an empty glass mayonnaise jar. If you shake it gently it will be fine; however, if you shake it vigorously or roughly up and down, the egg will break.
Brain-building skills: Helps Baby to develop balance; builds head and body control, visual tracking, depth perception and trust; and exposes her to rhythm.
Muscles exercised: head, neck and core muscles
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.
Rock, rock, rock your boat gently down the stream,
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.
Place Baby tummy down on a slightly-deflated beach ball. For the first two verses and while securely holding her on top of the ball, rock her slowly forward and backward on the ball.
For the third and fourth verses, rock her slowly from side to side on the ball. Repeat several times or until she gets tired. As she builds her head and neck strength, you can place a small ball or toy in front of her and encourage her to reach for the object.
Brain-building skills: upper body strength, trust and balance
Muscles exercised: head and neck, upper and lower back, and core
Exercise performed: balancing baby

Thank you for all the good info. I have a 3-month-old little boy and he is my first child. I learned a lot, and thank you for that!
