Who Needs Sleep?
8 Reasons to Get Fewer Zzz's
By Heather Dawn
Since sleep deprivation is inevitable for new mothers, we need to look for the positive. Here are several reasons sleep deprivation is actually a good thing.
1. You can sleep anywhere.
Couches, floors – even on the toilet. Beds seem unoriginal. (I even sleep with my eyes open, but take it from me: People get freaked out if you start to snore.)
2. You become more flexible.
In pre-sleep-deprivation days you thought out your clothing ensembles. Now you think, "As long as I'm covered and don't have spit up on me, I look pretty good." Then you simply grab the first thing you see in the hamper.
3. Your family won't need television anymore.
Who needs TV when they've got sleep-deprived Mom? For some reason walking into walls always cracks everybody up. Slurred and mispronounced words buy you a snicker. Falling asleep face first in your mashed potatoes may produce outright hysteria.
4. Boring household duties become adventures.
It's time to clean the kitchen. Who would've thought to look under the bed for the mop? Time to make breakfast. Thanks to sleep deprivation, your creativity can soar. Ice cream in the refrigerator? Milkshakes for everyone! Cereal in the freezer? Great for teething!
5. No one will mess with you.
